To sit on the landing and play carols, loudly on my euphonium when I get up for work tomorrow?

Dp and I have gone to bed. Can hear ds and dss mucking about, which we're not too chuffed about. They now woken the two girls who have joined in, and I've had to go and read the riot act. (and received a load of back chat from dss- he's a mardy little sod atm)

I've got to get up tomorrow at 7 ish, as I'm working. Would IBU to sit on the landing and play carols outside their bedrooms as loud as I can?

YWBVU to sit and play carols.

However, YWNBU to sit and practise your scales. Much more tuneless and unpleasant. Grin

UnicornInDMboots · 27/12/2016 22:47

Could you just tune it. Make sure it's perfectly in tune. Especially the high notes. Check them over and over again

SheepyFun · 27/12/2016 22:50

I actually laughed at the title of your thread, so at least you're providing amusement to others. Would they take revenge? How unpleasant might that be? Is your dp working tomorrow too? Am I thinking this through too much?! Wink

Only1scoop · 27/12/2016 22:50

Yes march around as you delver the morning lament Grin

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day ... fortissimo

YelloDraw · 27/12/2016 22:51

You would not be U, because I love euphonium. Come and play some here!

Needmyowndesertisland · 27/12/2016 22:51

Dp is off. Dp gets the pleasure of them all day Grin
A friend on fb suggested Toccata. Mwah ha ha ha!!!!

I agree with your friend - definitely opera!

PickAChew · 27/12/2016 22:52

The only problem with playing them on your euphonium is that you can't sing along, badly.

Is DH willing to be a partner in crime?

Needmyowndesertisland · 27/12/2016 22:55

Not opera... More this

Think dp wouldn't be much used. He'd be shaking in a corner with laughter!

Or this...

Could you do some loud, repetitive warm up exercises first? Slightly of time, of course (you're tired from being kept up late).

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/12/2016 23:16

You could try the Radetzy March that's quite cheerful.

Or the opening of Also Sprach Zarathustra if you have a friend who could pop round with a couple of timpani

Needmyowndesertisland · 28/12/2016 07:31

No timps, unfortunately. My part for radetzy isn't in yer face enough either. Those boys need to suffer! Euph parts tend to dance around, or complement the tune, and that's pretty much all I have because I've learnt as an adult within the silver band.

You only need four notes to be played repeatedly. It'll drive them crackers.

Or the start of a very well known tune then stop part way through and start again.

Think singing 'a b c d..' break 'a b c d' break 'a b c d'. People will literally scream 'e! E!EEE!!!!!' at you after a while.

AChickenCalledKorma · 28/12/2016 07:51

My daughter is in a training band for year 7s, all of whom only started playing their instruments in October. I can vouch for the fact that the first four bars of "Good King Wenceslas", played with huge determination and then repeated 10-20 times is a very special form of torture.

( They haven't learned the next four bars yet Grin)

Liiinoo · 28/12/2016 08:01

Don't you have recorders in the house? If not, get some and let the younger ones play them to the boys all day long.

periwinklepickspoppies · 28/12/2016 08:07

How about oh when the saints...repeatedly.

abbsisspartacus · 28/12/2016 08:12

Half a tune is best your brain wants the rest and it turns into an earworm

Needmyowndesertisland · 28/12/2016 08:19

Ha ha ha, we three kings, ff, but from music written for a C instrument so it sounded wrong too Grin

Downside, I don't get a quiet breakfast. But revenge was so sweet

What was the reaction from your - presumably grateful - audience? Grin

Cherrysoup · 28/12/2016 10:30

You have a euphonium!! My grandad was band leader with his for the pit band, back in the day

Needmyowndesertisland · 28/12/2016 16:43

cherry, I have a 1976 B&H sovereignSmile. Well, it belongs to the band, but for now I play it.

My audience was not impressed!!!! Ha ha ha
