I am 32. I am a mum of dd (4) and DS (9months) I tend to socialise with a big group of people from work ranging from 19 year olds to 35ish. No one ever thinks I'm as old as I am, they usually guess about 26 which is fine by me as it helps with the denial!!

Well, on saturday night I went out with some of the younger ones to town for a 22nd birthday of one of the lads. They all kept saying to me "I can't believe how ace you are" and saying they had to go out with me more often. But somewhere in those statements I detected a "but". I get the impression it's a bit like "you're really ace for a mum and wife" or "you're great for an old bird".

Should I just accept that I am a wife and mum and that I'll always be seen like that by them and just be glad I'm the kind of wife and mum who is still able to socialise with students and have fun OR should I be insulted that there is a BUT in there?

I just felt really old on Saturday

so basically they said things like

"you're ace"

and you heard

"you're ace for a wizened old lady with husband and kids"

lol Twig

Yeah something like that!

And have just had a text from one of them saying that I'd better make it out next time because "it wouldn't be the same without me" so I'm obviously in demand....

...even for a wizened old lady with husband and kids

Hormones are great... like the nights when "you look nice" means "... if nice is huge and lumpy"
