I'm generally pretty happy with my lot but sometimes I let my mind wander to a different life.

Maybe I would live in a fishing village on a little Greek island, making wine, eating wonderful food and speaking fluent Greek to my many friends. My DC's would work alongside me when they are old enough and our days would be happy, long and sunny.

Oh and I'd be married to Hugh Jackman who would adore me. Obviously.

I'm very happy with my lot. We have a beautiful home - it was literally the house of my dreams - with plenty of help. I love my job and am paid handsomely for it, as is DH. We travel a lot with our DC who attend a lovely private school. I cannot complain and genuinely feel blessed. Growing up as a young black girl I always had ambition and goals but my life now is even better than I dared hope.

Looking at the sunrise through the trees right now. I think I have it. Never going to be rich but have enough.

Your very good health, everyone.

Eminybob · 29/12/2016 09:13

I think I would still live in the town I'm in now, but in a bigger nicer house with views to the hills.

And I would like to be be able not to have to work while DS is so little, or at least have a less stressful job, one that I could just forget about while I'm not there.

I'm generally happy with my life (apart from my job) but would like to have to not to have to worry about money as much

waitingforsomething · 29/12/2016 10:56

I'd still live in the UK but in a huuuuuge rambling country house, and I would work around 3 days per week doing the job I do now. I'd also have a holiday home in the south of Spain so I could run off to better weather now and again.
I would have enough money not to worry, have healthy savings accounts for my children and have lots and lots of friends to invite for dinner in my huge kitchen!

user1475439961 · 29/12/2016 11:13

I wouldn't worry all the time. I would teach at a lovely village school by the sea where all the staff and parents were honest, kind and grateful. My children would be happy and safe. I would be a size 10 and my husband would love me. I would have a handful of really good friends.

tooclosetocall · 29/12/2016 15:39

A quaint little house on the coast somewhere, neat & tidy. Ideally situated so that I'm not living in isolation but far away from grumpy, pessimistic OH.
No health or money worries. When I'm in my old age I imagine an armful of grandchildren around me. This is my ideal life.

I want to live on the outskirts of a picturesque and friendly village in Cornwall in either a 5 bed country cottage or a Grand designs inspired modern thing with balconies and verandas - depending on my mood. I'd like a big garden with veg patch, chickens, maybe a goat and a couple stables and a paddock. I'd like there to be plenty of room for my boys to safely roam and within walking distance to the sea.
I'd like to own a cafe/gallery which ticks along nicely with super reliable staff and enables me to work part time hours.
I'd like a motivated and effervescent DH who is always cup half full and full of fun.
I'd like time to travel, read, see bands live.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 29/12/2016 16:03

Reasonable sized house with a bit of land. Alternatively I love the idea of living near the sea. A combination of the two would be perfect.

I would love to have the space for my own art/sewing/craft studio and I know DH would like to have a music studio again. DD would love her own ensuite.

If we are really pushing to boat out I would also want a holiday apartment in Berlin as we visit a couple of times a year so it would be handy.

SaltySeaBird · 29/12/2016 17:05

Pretty much my current life with more money!

I'd move about 15 minutes down the road to my dream house (currently on the market, about £550,000 over my budget). I'd drive a nicer car (this is going to have to happen this year anyway as my current one hasn't got many miles left in it, but I can't afford the car I want) and we'd have a few more holidays at nicer hotels. I'd hire an interior designer to help me get the look I want and a cleaner and gardener to help me maintain it. I'd also get my hair and nails done on a regular basis.

But I wouldn't swap my DH, I'd carry on in my current job, still do my particular hobbies and my DC are already perfect as they are.

Sadik · 29/12/2016 20:17

I'd go for my life as it is now, but with wooden floors, a new paint job, and a ruggedly goodlooking, loving yet independent gentleman friend who visits a couple of times a week for sex companionship and long walks. Said gentleman friend would also be good with a tractor.

I've lived the good life in a hot country, it was fun in my 20s, but involved a lot of building and too many bitey insects Grin

plominoagain · 29/12/2016 20:26

I'd just like to live my current lifestyle with the house , dcs dh , dogs and horses , without having to work or commute every hour to afford it .

On my days off , I can be found sitting on my tractor , contemplating the fields and thinking 'if only this was the only place I had to be ' .

I'm a superhero. Really troubled but cool. Also I can snap necks with my thighs and can do interesting and erotic things with a sword. I train a lot and have a few close bug amazing friends should know my secret. We fight evil

My bad, the keys got stuck.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/12/2016 20:33

Essentially the same house we have now but with two extra bedrooms. I'd love to write about cooking professionally rather than as a hobby. I could give up my paid but unappreciated job and do some voluntary work. We'd also have chickens...

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 29/12/2016 20:43

I would own a barn we stayed in in Threlkeld, northern lakes and I wouldn't need to work. I might chose to work if I wanted but not many hours.

I'd spend my days walking in the hills and joining community groups. I'd hav 2 4x4's for the bad weather and I'd live in practical hiking gear.

I'd crochet and have a veg garden.

pinkhousesarebest · 29/12/2016 20:46

My life right now but neither of us would have to work and we could set off every morning with road bikes and a picnic. Oh and I would roll back time to when dcs were still in primary. And I would have a cat who allowed us to have chickens.

NoJimmyProtested · 29/12/2016 20:53

I'd be really thin and beautiful, living in a rooftop apartment Paris with my gorgeous girlfriend (who conveniently is just a nicer, kinder version of my actual super hot ex girlfriend), and we'd spend our days having sex and smoking artfully into the distance looking effortlessly cool. Sigh...

GimmeeMoore · 29/12/2016 21:48

Ridiculously wealthy, living in a large period property also with a period cottage somewhere rural to go to at weekend and bank holidays. Vivacious and clever acquaintances who are well read, and can cook a brunch like a Michelin chef. My Children look glossy and outdoorsy as if they stepped out a white company catalogue. A multilingual jujitsu trained nanny who accommodates all the family needs and is somehow able to melt into background when not required. A partner who is sensitive, clever and has an enthusiastic tongue that never tires

So not much then...
