It's disturbing.

OP posts:

Just because her parents agree does not make it right. The adults in this child's life are not protecting her that does not mean it is OK.

I am very comfortable with nudity/ beach wear in the appropriate place. On a 15 year old in a newspaper is inappropriate. Boy or girl.

OurBlanche · 27/12/2016 17:28

As I said Runny that says more about your view of the world than her/them!

Gloria I haven't read the Grauniad since it publish the headline Byron's Ancestor Wins Lottery My letter, explaining which way time goes, went unacknowledged Smile

GloriaGaynor · 27/12/2016 17:30

The issue is not a girl on a beach, but plastered all over a misognyist paper with an obsession with underage girls.

SnatchedPencil · 27/12/2016 17:30

I haven't read it but this is reminiscent of the incident a few years back when the Mail lambasted the programme Brasseye for its satire on the media's coverage of child abuse, whilst on the next page showing a couple of early-teenage royals in their swimwear.

But... it's not really any weirder for someone to print those pictures than it would be to allow a child to wear those sort of clothes. When you next go to the beach (which won't be for a few months if you live in the UK!) remember that paedophiles don't need to rely on photographs for their stimulation when plenty of adults allow their young children to show their flesh.

It's not a crime to photograph children in a public place even in their swimwear, and it's not a crime to publish those photographs. It only becomes suspicious when someone photographs someone who could have a "reasonable" expectation of privacy. However, in UK law, there is NO right to privacy when in a public place. No matter how secluded the beach looks, it is perfectly legal for someone to photograph you or your children.

I and most other people find this uncomfortable and a little creepy, but the only option is to never go out wearing swimwear.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 27/12/2016 17:30

To be fair to her parents, what are they supposed to do in this situation?

They want to go to the beach. Presumably it's warm there, hence the swim wear.

They can hardly tell her to stay covered up.

But it remains to be seen whether they'll take legal action over the photos.

GoldAndGlittery · 27/12/2016 17:34

I agree they shouldn't be posting them.

But equally, I don't think 15 year old should be wearing a bikini....

DameDeDoubtance · 27/12/2016 17:37

Nothing wrong with a 15 year old wearing a bikini Confused

tiej · 27/12/2016 17:38

Fuss about nothing.

DameDeDoubtance · 27/12/2016 17:40

Just worth mentioning that children do not attract attention because of their swimwear choice, nor do young women. It's not the bikinis fault or the skirt that's short, it's the men looking at the children as a sexual object. They are the problem.

whyohwhy000 · 27/12/2016 17:41

Is the Daily Mail the modern version of newspapers' page 3?

Isitadoubleentendre · 27/12/2016 17:43

The 15-year-old has had a very big 2016 and it was evident why as she enjoyed the special day with her family

Underneath one of the countless bikini shots of her.

Apparently the brother is 'also genetically blessed' but there aren't endless swimwear shots of him.

Bleugh.

Isitadoubleentendre · 27/12/2016 17:45

Also references to her being a 'daddy's girl' in the article.

Sorry, I know I shouldnt have clicked.

DameDeDoubtance · 27/12/2016 17:45

The comments appear to be critiquing her body or comparing her to her mother to see which is the more attractive. Completely healthy and not at all a harmful attitude.

Milklollies · 27/12/2016 17:49

I agree with many posters who see the resemblance of the daily fail's fascination with sexualising young girls as much as a certain culture/religion they hate.

nichito · 27/12/2016 17:52

A 15 year old shouldn't be wearing a bikini?! Eh?

OurBlanche · 27/12/2016 17:54

It is just reflecting what we, the public, want!

If we didn't click n the links, buy the papers, etc, they would change or disappear.

So, in a very tangible manner, they are just showing us what we, as a society, want to see/read.

If you don't like it, do something about it! Something more likely to change things than moaning here.

Like a proper campaign to get a large petition delivered to Dacre and his puppet masters in a manner they have to take notice of!

But don't hold your breath waiting for it to have any effect! To paraphrase an old and inane tagline "All the news that fits the print" They go where the money is!

DameDeDoubtance · 27/12/2016 17:54

Still waiting to see what's wrong with a bikini on a 15 year old.

DarthPlagueis · 27/12/2016 17:55

Its another great example of the Daily Mail's double standards, someone above mentioned their critique of Brass eye and the media's name and shame coverage, but what wasn't mentioned is that the pics of the royals in the swimwear pics on the next page were only 12 and 14 at the time.

So typical of the Mail. Hypocrisy all the way.

Dawndonnaagain · 27/12/2016 17:56

What I think is far more disgusting is their headline about how Britain's benefits bill has soared and then compared it to 1948. Oh, and stated that it's despite people being in better health and living longer. They described the benefits as 'handouts'. Said the bill could be cut if more people were forced helped into work, in a society that has little reliable work available and few ready adjustments for those with disabilities. What the article is actually saying is private health insurance would get everyone sorted.
But hey ho, it's all influenced by the wonderful neo liberal think tank the IEA.

Drywhitethanks · 27/12/2016 18:01

I stopped reading the DM 4years ago, am much happier now Smile

Goldandglittery try putting a 15yr old in a swimsuit.........they all wear bikinis Hmm

And I agree OP why link this article if you're so shocked by it?

DarthPlagueis · 27/12/2016 18:04

The Daily Mail's attitude to "handouts" changes drastically when its for pensioners though.

Liiinoo · 27/12/2016 18:08

There are also pictures of her bare chested brother. Is this also disgusting?

Rattusn · 27/12/2016 18:12

I think it is very likely that her parents have given permission for these photos to be published.

SooBee61 · 27/12/2016 18:14

How horrible to be on hols and have your photo taken and splashed across the gutter press. God I'd hate to be famous!

DarthPlagueis · 27/12/2016 18:16

There is a good possibility that these pictures were staged too. I don't think that familly go to places where pictures are easy to get.
