After the prezzys for Christmas.

All the toiletries that I've had hanging round in the bathroom; some of which I quite like but never seem to get through, ( I shower every day) but rarely use body creams...I forget,

Put the brand new stuff up on the shelves.

Sweep the whole toiletry thing clean...does anybody else have a shelf life for toiletries?

I put a basketful of part used hair products, lotions, body butter etc on our local Freebay site on Facebook, someone said yes immediately and collected the next day, there were 2 or 3 others who would have taken them if not collected. Could you do something like that?

The ones that you quite like - yes that's a silly waste.

The ones that you don't like - why wait til Dec 31st?

No YWNBU, I know there is a "thing" about not wasting toiletries, but if I have things that I genuinely know I am not going to use and I can't give to someone else, then I get rid - nothing to be gained by hanging on to it.

Mind, I buy way too many cleaning products (fabric softeners etc) and decide I don't like them either - so they go too Blush

I also* buy

Well, it's getting confusing.

If you are throwing all stuff away because of a random date then YABU
If you are throwing a half used bottle away because to have really gone off the smell or it irritates your skin, then YABU to wait until a set date - just do it now
If you are throwing stuff you would otherwise use away just because you had new stuff for Christmas, then YABU

Generally getting rid of stuff you arent going to use - YANBU

Nope you are being perfectly reasonable. Most toiletries have a 12 or 24 month at most shelf life. That and the humid conditions in bathrooms I would bet your old products will be full of bacteria. Chuck them out and start fresh.

I try to only have one of each thing open at a time to prevent waste but it doesn't always happen. Sometimes I try something but don't love it so open something else I think I would like better. I had a Christmas Eve clear out and chucked a lot of things with a little bit left at the bottom. My bathroom looks much happier now.
