To wake dc before I go to work Christmas day

I feel guilty.

Should I wake my dc so they can enjoy their gift while I am in work.

What time are you going in?

You're not otherwise expecting the present opening to wait until you get home, are you?

I am in at 7am.

The dc will not touch any presents till I get home. Just feel bad for them.

I understand why you would want to however it is a little unfair to whoever is home with them to wake them up get them excited and then bugger off.

Would you be OK if your dh left you with tired over excited kids all day?

How old are your kids? Are they likely to be up anyway?

I would. It's not that early. Have an hour with them before you go, put a smile on all your faces.

Ds is 10 and dd is 7.

What time are you getting home? How old are they?

When you say they won't touch the presents, do you mean they themselves will refrain from doing so (impressive kids!) or you'll forbid it (good luck with that)?

When I was a kid my mum worked one Christmas Day. Me and DF had a great time playing crash bandicoot on the ps and we had 'Christmas day' on Boxing Day, including all presents being opened.

They will be fine to wait until you get back!

It's not the first time I have had to work ( nhs) and every year without fail they have waited.

My kids always wait until after lunch and always have. They will be fine waiting.

I think as long as they aren't expecting santa to drop presents off during the night and won't be awake anyway until quite a few hours later that you should leave them to sleep.
Also assuming that you will be home at a reasonable time, and not a case of mums home, open presents, now off to bed.

Why not compromise and let them open say two presents before you go.

Don't wake them up, tell your DH to open half pressies with him and half when you got back from work

Ah you can still do the Santa thing and make them wait. In my house my mum had 'arranged' for him to come a day later because she was working.
