DD likes to watch those bloody daft videos on YouTube (I know but I need to keep her occupied when I clean/shower/do other stuff) where kids open giant plastic eggs that are full of smaller eggs/tubs that are full of overpriced crap.

Her 'main' present tomorrow is one of these from us, the giant plastic egg cost a fortune from eBay and I have traipsed round various toy shops and perused the World Wide Web since October to find the Fashems, blind bags, and various other bits of tat that are always on these videos.

I now have a lovely full egg worth about £50 sitting under the tree. Today she declared that's fashems and blind bags are a bit rubbish and she wants a fecking yo-yo from Santa.

Are they all bloody like this? And WIBU to put said DD on EBay to try and recoup the costs of this sodding egg Grin

Disclaimer: I put lighthearted in the title so you aren't allowed to flame me WinkGrin

My almost 8 year old wrote to Santa ages ago asking for a certain thing. As it happens a relative has bought him that, so 'Santa' has bought stuff I think he'll like.

Except for the last week or so he's been telling everyone he wants a Hatchimal and that 'I know you can't get them in the shops but Santa can get them.' He's not going to be waking up to a Hatchimal tomorrow.

My son declared that bouncy castles were boring two days before his bouncy castle party. I nearly cried. He still loved it.

Fickle.

Benedikte2 · 24/12/2016 22:39

Hettie give them a card from FC explaining why he couldn't deliver the snorlax -- fell out of sack, reindeer wanted them etc but that they I'll be posted from FCs workshop after Christmas. Most disappointing but not much you can do at this stage.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 24/12/2016 22:42

YNBU. DS has been asking for the same thing since bloody october for weeks. Last night before bed he announced he wanted something else.

If you look on ebay OP you'll see DS Pixies already listed! Grin Wink

The exact reasons you never ask little ones what they want!

Hedgehog80 · 24/12/2016 22:55

Ds2 in sep "I would like a furby connect"
Ds2 in Oct "I would like a blue furby connect please"
Ds2 in Nov "can't wait for my furby!!"
Ds2 in Dec "I really really want a furby connect!"
Ds2 on Wednesday "I've changed my mind I want the Thomas track jump set please mummy can you tell Father Christmas ?"

Mine has written an amended letter to Santa tonight asking for a slushy machine and a hover board! Confused
They weren't on the original list from 4 weeks ago!!

Foslady · 24/12/2016 23:10

Two day before Christmas one year at 2pm dd announced to her grandma that Santa was bringing her a teacup bunny which was an Argos exclusive. Had to leave her there early and hope that they had one in. They did...,,,and she played with it once!!!!

Bringmewineandcake · 24/12/2016 23:13

I've spent about £25 on blind bags and shit, OP! I'm dreading the over the top fake reactions I'm going to get off my 4 year old coz that's what they do on the videos. Was also v close to tracking down a plastic egg to put them in.
Good luck tomorrow, she might surprise you and be pleased with her stash! Xmas Smile

Nicknameofawesome · 24/12/2016 23:21

Tesco had a shit tonne of blind bags cheap a couple of weeks ago. I got tsum tsum, minions, animal hospital and Star Wars all under £1 each. It's not my little pony but fuck it Santa likes a bargain (although I still think the buggers are overpriced at a quid tbh)

We got lucky this year DS suddenly amended his very short list a week or so ago to include 2 new items. We most have been good because they were two things WE HAD ALREADY GOT.

WhenTheDragonsCame · 24/12/2016 23:28

DD3 was so cross with her teacher last year. DD3 said that the teacher had promised she would send the letters to Santa but she obviously didn't because she didn't get anything she asked for Angry

Freshprincess · 24/12/2016 23:33

I ran into a colleague and her 6 year old daughter on Thursday. Asked daughter what she hoped FC would bring and she said and a manchester United top, football boots and a football. From the look on Mums face this appeared to be new information.

Now mine are a bit older, I have a letter to santa deadline day in early December. With no changes allowed.

Sixweekstowait · 24/12/2016 23:47

When my DD was small, there was never any question in our house of asking FC for anything. He brought a stocking with lots of small items and everything else came clearly labelled from family/friends. We also absolutely avoided the whole idea of big Christmas presents. So, for example, a new bike would be bought when it was needed. i don't think children should write lists at all.

CheshireChat · 25/12/2016 03:28

DS is only 2 so no lists so far, but for his birthday we bought him a little microphone as he was using everything around the house to sing.
He still uses everything else as a pretend microphone except for the actual bastarding thing.

slightlyglitterbrained · 25/12/2016 11:49

Bourdin - I think we might follow that rule with DS. Given this thread, it sounds like it might be a lot less stressful!

Xmas Grin at "He still uses everything else as a pretend microphone except for the actual bastarding thing", Cheshire.

Hope you're all having a Merry Christmas w/o too much tears and angst over Santa failings!

SaucyJack · 25/12/2016 12:13

DD2 asks for X. I buy X.

DD2 unwraps X Christmas morn, then looks at me like I've just shat in the bathtub.

??

Kitsandkids · 25/12/2016 22:48

Santa didn't bring my kids anything they said they wanted in the last few days, because I'd already got stuff and wasn't going to buy more. They cared not one jot. The missing Hatchimal was never even mentioned.
