(Meant in a lighthearted way)This just came up as an option on predictive text. I've heard people say it and it seems it's a thing. I find it really annoying. Anyone else?

No idea what you're talking about, sorry!

Boundaries · 24/12/2016 14:14

You mean instead of "New Year's"?

bloodymaria · 24/12/2016 14:15

Or instead of New Year?

Salmotrutta · 24/12/2016 14:18

It's an appalling shortcut for New Year's Eve which should be Hogmanay anyway.

I hate it and always want to ask "New Year's what?"

tanfield90 · 24/12/2016 14:40

It's either 'New Year's Eve' or 'New Year' IMO. 'New Year's' is an American expression.

YANBU

MiniMaxi · 24/12/2016 16:41

YANBU!

YANBU, it's New Year, or New Year's Eve/Day.

GravyAndShite · 24/12/2016 17:13

Really? Grin why are you thinking about this on Christmases? Wink

Unicorn1981 · 24/12/2016 18:37

Ha ha. Love it! Smile

Well we always call it Old Year's Night, rather than New Year's Eve. (Scottish). Grin

Unicorn1981 · 24/12/2016 23:39

I like that bless. Love your user name too.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/12/2016 23:43

I always thought it was American

BlessYourCottonSocks · 27/12/2016 20:17

Thank you! New Year's Day is often pronounced 'Neyerday' up here too. Tend to shorten everything! (It's actually Old Year's Nicht rather than 'Night' to be strictly correct). Looking forward to it now...
