Feeling undermined by dm, Aibu?

Today while having fish and chips my ds (5) asked for salt. I said yes but he couldn't have ketchup as well. Dmum said 'isn't she bossy' to both my kids. I didn't say anything but am quite cross at the comment. My parents don't seem to see the problem in having too much sugar or salt in my Dc diets and think I'm far too fussy. Dcs have plenty of cakes etc but I don't like them going over the top. Also Dh has high blood pressure with a family history of it also so I'm trying to bring them up to eat well.

So Aibu to be feel annoyed about this? It's a fairly regular thing with my parents to say things like this in front of my kids.

Well I'm certainly going to store some of the witty come backs for the future so thanks for those.

I know people are going to have differing opinions about salt at meal times but that wasn't my Aibu. Ds has been asking to addd salt to his chips for a couple of weeks now so I said yes the next time we have them but made that compromise with him. I wasn't being deliberately grinch like it was just a reminder.

Good to know I'm not alone with annoying parents. Smile

Merry Christmas everyone

Your child, your rules. Personally don't think a child that age should he provided either option - chips are only palatable because of sauces/flavouring, take them away and kids won't eat them.
