Christmas preorder at local Morrisons: totally disorganised

Ordered Christmas food for collection at my local Morrisons at 11 am today, 24 December, two weeks ago. They give you a half an hour collection slot- AIBU to expect to be actually collect my food during this time? Did this as I thought it would save time! Have been waiting in customer service queue for over 50 minutes and it is barely moving. They are completely disorganised and unprepared. Never ordering Morrisons again! How long is everyone waiting at other supermarkets? Local Morrisons don't even have a system where you hand in your order code so you can go shopping for other stuff. You are literally stuck in the queue. Would have been much less painful to go to another supermarket yesterday or day before and just buy the stuff. I picked up other stuff yesterday and yes it was busy, but staff were helpful. How long is a reasonable time to wait? Have prepaid 30 per cent of the order.

Luna, that is what I thought as well - pre-ordering so you can avoid things running out having to be substituted Xmas Hmm

MrsBellefleur · 24/12/2016 13:19

I went to collect my Morrisons pre order at 7 this morning, I had one substitute and everyone else I saw served had at least one as well. I thought the whole point of pre ordering was so they knew exactly how much of each thing was needed.

There was no queue system set up and it seemed quite disorganised and I can see it causing problems during the busy times.

youve got your food.....whats the issue

CinderellaRockefeller · 24/12/2016 13:24

Got ours from Marks, all as ordered and took me 5 minutes. Fab organisation :)

FittonTower · 24/12/2016 13:30

My Morrisons delivery arrived yesterday, no substitutes and they rang to ask if they could deliver a bit early too. Very easy! And Id saved £70 of the vouchers the loyalty card gives so I was pretty impressed this year

MrsSlocombesPussy · 24/12/2016 13:53

I think the reason Morrisons delivery service is so much better than the in store service is that Ocado manage the deliveries for them.

I pre ordered this year at morrisons so I could guarantee I would be able to get what I want pffft my two gammon joints christmas tree smoked & apricot glazed were missing to be replaced by a 500g roast ham slice thing and a smoked gammon joint. I was raging. They didn't tell my husband who picked it up and just said it was £8 cheaper than expected. Have spent an hour trying to source other gammon joints elsewhere. Bloody annoyed at their lack of concern & no explanation as to lack of it when it was pre ordered 6 weeks ago. Anyway am boiling a hamt o honey glaze the now ( even though I didn't want to this year) and it will work out in the end but will not be using their pre order again. It's atrocious.

Maybe you're in our local Morrisons! Took Dh 2 hours to collect ours yesterday. He had both kids with him, he was not impressed. Good luck!

Just popped there today. Got two pack of bacon, got home and they are out of date! Angry

We live on the top of a hill and can actually see our local, massive Tesco out of the bedroom window, but I hate shopping and hate the car park so always have our groceries delivered. This year, despite pre-ordering and having it all delivered on Thursday they didn't have bacon (for pigs in blankets) or sausage meat (for stuffing) so I still had to go to the shops.

That was annoying, but not as bad as the year they turned up on the 23rd with no turkey or Christmas pudding.

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2016 14:25

I ordered from Tesco and got it delivered, no hassle at all. Arrived on time and got everything I needed.

Floralnomad · 24/12/2016 14:25

My dsis collected her M&S order this morning first thing and it took 5/10 minutes , I collected her Morrisons order ( she's doing Christmas) yesterday lunchtime and it took about 10 minutes . Morrisons is notorious for being disorganised with pre orders , last year they took about 30 mins to find my order and then said they only had 1 of the free range turkey crowns I'd ordered instead of 2 and they would find me a replacement which would obviously be free - 10 minutes later he reappeared with a free range turkey crown ( exactly the size I'd ordered) which I then got for free - utter madness but did save me about £35 . We pre order mainly desserts and large hams / pork pies that they don't stock a lot of to guarantee we can get them.

Lweji · 24/12/2016 14:34

I think I can beat you.

I pre-ordered turkey legs to make sure I got the type I wanted but only the day before and wouldn't have to buy them days in advance.

Collection time from 8 pm yesterday. Not particularly busy. I got there at 9pm, gave my name at the desk and waited. Just one man in front, already getting his stuff, except that several of his items were missing. After almost 30 min there we get talking and he mentions that he'd just got an email saying one of the items he ordered wasn't available.
I checked my email and surely enough I had an email, sent at 9:09 pm (!) saying the only item I wanted wasn't available. Angry

In the end I found a decent alternative, by shopping myself, but I'm still mad at them.

Grindelwaldswand · 24/12/2016 16:25

I still can't understand why you waited so long to shop, even for fresh stuff you can buy it a week before Christmas and its fine Confused madness.

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2016 17:46

I have never specially ordered anything and have always just shopped normally and got everything I wanted with a bit of planning.

I wouldn't risk someone else sorting my food out. Too much scope for error.
