To be letting Donald Trump spoil my Christmas

I'm feeling very anxious about January 20 when he takes over. I just can't look forward to the future, frightened that he'll take away our future. He just seems mad, unpredictable and scary. Can anyone please calm me down.

Do you usually suffer such anxiety?

What usually helps me when I feel like this is writing lists of what I think will happen.

So what do you think will happen when he takes over? Perhaps people can alleviate your worries?

I doubt that he's going to be able to cause any immediate mayhem. The machinery of government is there to blunt his wishes and staffed by people less crazy than him. He doesn't even want to do the job full time.

Yes I've always been anxious about certain things. My biggest worry is that he'll start a big war.

Well he's now saying he'd like to start a new nuclear arms race, so anxiety would see a pretty proportionate response to me.

He is mad unpredictable and scary. And orange. But I don't think he will do all that much ... He made a whole load of rash claims when he was campaigning and has backed down on many of them. He is all talk and no action since his actions are just stupid.

I was half listening to something about the nuclear warheads last night. Apparently there's already a programme to replace and expand the US nuclear arsenal and he's trying to make it seem like his idea.
Realistically he's got a man crush on Putin so this could be a good thing for US Russian relations.

I'm hoping that all his crazy ideas will cost a lot of money and he'll never get congress to agree.
The American government, as with all I guess, is so slow and beaurocratic and hopefully that stands in our favour. I know he was facing a hostile house and senate for a lot of the time (but then, trump isn't liked himself by a lot of the establishment republicans) but look how little Obama managed to do vs the hype.

We've all got to get on with our lives though, getting worked up over something that you can't control is never worth it when you have things now in the present to enjoy.

Hillary was the warmonger. Trump seems more insular. Internationally I don't think he'll do much damage but he may be a disaster for internal pollitics.

Herod that's what I was thinking, I worried if Clinton was elected that ww3 could have started due to Russia US relations. A strange but happy for now by-product is the calmed relationship.

whatever happens next year, it's not happening right now. I think it's important, as we can't do anything about it at the moment to enjoy what we have and appreciate it, stand up for what is right when you see injustices and make the most of life.

Come on, we made it through George W Bush (appreciate if you're from Afghanistan you may beg to differ). He has loads of advisors... plus I read a conspiracy theory that the CIA will make sure he's assassinated if things get too dicey if that makes you feel better?

Seriously, it will be fine. He was democratically elected and he will have a huge team around him. I think he has a more constructive attitude to relations with Russia than many of his predecessors. He seems to be more concerned with the job prospects of US citizens than warmongering in the middle east. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how it will go. Enjoy your Christmas.
