I didn't have time to shower this a morn as running a bit late so shoved on a dress from my chair of clothes ie not dirty but not just out of the washing machine. I put perfume and deodorant on and apart from the dress not smelling of washing powder, it doesn't smell bad and neither do I, I think? Am aware I prob don't smell ridiculously fresh smell though!!!

Anyway I was working with a new team today and as I left the manager said oh, you're like a breath of fresh air amongst all these jaded people - I can't help but feel that's a reflection on me not smelling great?!? Someone reassure me - CAN people smell themselves? Has everyone been talking about me behind my back?! It's a very professional company and there were some senior people in the room

Op if you have anxiety probably best not to post on here.
I think it's hard to tell if the manager was making fun without having been there. Don't worry, every once in a while you can't get on clean clothes and you need to make do.
Shrug it off. My recommendation is wet wipes. Quick and easy for those emergencies. Be kind to yourself don't worry about the comment.

FurryLittleTwerp · 21/12/2016 20:13

Presumably you washed face, pits, bits?

I tend to jump in the shower for literally 2-3 minutes with a shower cap on if I'm running late - I would feel sticky & horrible all day if I hadn't showered.

Serialweightwatcher · 21/12/2016 20:13

I think because you knew about this mornings situation and it's not usual for you that you were uncomfortable in yourself and reading wrongly into things that were said - doubt very much there was a problem with your appearance or your smell - just too much overthinking - don't worry about it Flowers

Dry shampoo stinks imo, better to just have day old hair

ILikeyourHairyHands · 21/12/2016 20:28

Unless the person who made the comment was a uniquely crap, oblique wordsmith I doubt very much he was alluding to your personal aroma and merely meant exactly what he said.

Hope you're feeling better, anxiety's rubbish.

DoloresTheRunawayTrain · 21/12/2016 20:32

If he was being a funny fucker it was probably in a so you are enthusiastic, optimistic and pleasant to work with. After a few years in here, you'll sell your Granny for 50p like the rest of us kind of way, rather than anything connected to personal hygiene.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/12/2016 20:36

I agree, dry shampoo is rank stuff.

haveacupoftea · 21/12/2016 20:40

You would be able to smell BO on the armpits of your top if you stank today. I bet you cant though.

Greenleave · 21/12/2016 20:49

Women who are city wanker banker care least what others think especially little thing like personal hygene, midday gym quick shower catch up and if its in your head then make sure it wont happen again. I need a 3mins shower before bed as I have long day from 6.00-10.00 non-stop then definitely again in the morning before I leave for work doesn't matter how tired and busy I am and these showers keep me insane.

Greenleave · 21/12/2016 20:49

*Keep me sane

SaltySeaDogs · 21/12/2016 20:57

I've showered and smelt my clothes and no BO there at all - the dress smells a tiny bit musty in places but otherwise of perfume. Only musty if you press your face up against it though!
