I always said she needed to be quite a bit older, mainly so she didn't have the hassle of taking out for p.e days but she's had a horrible time ( she burnt her foot - I have another thread on here ) and asked if she could have it done as an extra present and in struggling to say no.
Is the main opinion that she is too young?

I would say 11 or 12.
But I don't get this attitude that some people seem to have, that girls/women 'need' to have pierced ears. It's surfaced on this thread once or twice - better to have them done while young, will need to have them repierced. There's absolutely no 'need' about it, it's entirely a cosmetic procedure. And somewhat sexist, IMO.
Also interesting to hear that one school has banned all earrings.

the kid was repeatedly told about kitchen safety (says the OP). Kid ignored instructions (as six year olds sometimes do), mucked about, got hurt. Lesson learned.

kid is now trying to push OP's buttons, as six year olds do. Just say 'no' and move on.
