To want to return the vouchers?

DH has family that have recently moved abroad, we would normally visit them before Christmas and we would exchange gifts. But this year as they aren't in the same country we were just going to send a card to the adults and a card and voucher for each of the DC.
Our postman has just been and has delivered a card from this family to ours. Just one card for our whole family, so wibu to return the vouchers and just send the cards?

(I know I likely ambu but I just feel a little disappointed especially as this is our DD first Christmas)

That's true Dixie thank you.
I'm going to post them tomorrow and sure if they arrive a little late I'm sure the DC won't mind, it'll be something extra after all the excitement from their other gifts .

Don't send vouchers in the post!! It's the same as sending cash: if it gets lost, it's gone (and some post services won't accept them anyway)

I would have thought that you are too late for Canada already, by regular mail at least. You can't normally return vouchers (but you can spend them yourself or use them for other gifts)

Why not send the card, sort out e-vouchers (amazon, OpenTable, Groupon type things) and then put the vouchers somewhere safe to use for emergency present / rainy day / a treat?

The post should only take a couple of days to arrive with them. I'll get it posted tomorrow and hopefully they will have it on time!

They really won't! Tomorrow is the 21st, in most countries the last post will arrive on Friday. Little to no chance of them getting it by Friday.
And is there a mail strike on anyway?

I've just post d cards and gifts separately - I could put the cards in the box - but it's nice to get a card!!

The last posting date to Canada was Dec 15th...

Agree with PP that you have missed the last posting date by a long way (remember that even if stuff takes a few days normally, the volume of mail at Christmas slows it all down, hence the last dates being what they are). But also, sending vouchers via post is very insecure. And will they even be able to use them?

As others have said, I always order from a website in the recipients country (often the appropriate Amazon) or failing that I do electronic vouchers. Delivered straight by email, no risk or fuss and in the correct currency for a store they can definitely get to. You may yet find yourself receiving electronic vouchers, as I often time them for just a couple of days before Christmas, or even do them on Christmas Eve.

I'm not posting to Canada that was a PP who was mentioning posting items to family in Canada.

But it's not just Canada. You've missed the last posting date for anywhere abroad. France was the 17th December and I can't imagine anywhere else was after then. Last post for first class in the U.K. is tomorrow.

It doesn't matter where it is, the last posting dates are all long gone. Even UK 1st class is tomorrow!

Glad you've made the decision to send. We moved overseas in the summer and did card and gift separately. Gifts were bought online and sent direct to the recipients. The cards from a different website straight to the recipients. It's sometimes easier and cheaper to do it that way. Plus you don't give to receive!

As for the last mail, you'll have missed it. Ivery made the same mistake and sent an apology by text to my DSis because I'm a tube and didn't realise just how quickly December flew by.
