No, YANBU.

PeachBellini123 · 19/12/2016 04:26

No, not everyone has child care readily available. Althought be prepared to need to leave the room if the baby starts crying.

BathshebaSnowflakeStone · 19/12/2016 04:36

YANBU, I had to take DS all through his, babyhood, toddlerhood and preschoolerhood, now the DC go to each other's parents' evenings. They hold them straight after school, so not an option to take the other one home beforehand.

It's fine Smile

Great. I bet there will be a few cuddles

Redsrule · 19/12/2016 07:09

I am a secondary teacher and I would love it! We often have little siblings at PE and even have a colouring table for them in a corner of the hall. Plus it is really useful to know why young X might be looking tired!

WellErrr · 19/12/2016 07:20

You can take a newborn anywhere, within reason.

I took all mine absolutely everywhere for the first six months as I breastfed and couldn't be fucked expressing. Taking latest DD (4 months) to two Christmas dinners this week.

Wellmeetontheledge · 19/12/2016 07:21

As a NQT last year I was over the moon when one of my children's parents bought their newborn in just so I could have a cuddle!

Artandco · 19/12/2016 07:23

It's fine. At my children's school most parents bring their children. Generally those school age wait outside room in hallway with books and those baby and small toddler who aren't being discussed go into room with parents.

GoofyTheHero · 19/12/2016 07:23

A lot of people with newborns would have to, surely? Especially if BF. DH works away in the week and we have no childcare so I'd have to take mine or not go.

Nicknameofawesome · 19/12/2016 07:24

I've aways trekked along with them all in tow. The teachers were fine with it. I used to bring them a book or similar and they would sit on my knee then when bigger on the next table (our parents evenings are in the classrooms)

Topseyt · 19/12/2016 07:29

At our primary school they often used to hold the parents evenings straight after school, so yes, it is fine. I did it.

It wasn't a time for passing baby round for cuddles though.Hmm

ChristmasZombie · 19/12/2016 08:09

Yep, you certainly can take baby with you! Aim for the earliest appointment you can, so you don't have too much waiting around (with the best will in the world, we teachers do fall behind schedule on parents evening!). And you're probably better off with baby in a sling rather than a pram, as space can be limited in classrooms.

paperandpaint · 19/12/2016 08:54

As a teacher I'd say definitely ok and totally normal. I've done it myself as a parent many times too!!

UnicornInDMboots · 19/12/2016 09:04

Teacher here - no problems at all!! Siblings of all ages come with most parents I see!
