To think we've been sold a dud Christmas tree?

First time we've had a real one. DH & I bought one from the local 'pop up' store. It's outside, and the guy is selling a large selection of them. He does this annually.

We've got it outside in the shed, and I've just been looking online - everything he's said seems opposite to what I'm finding.
For example, I asked him how I will be able to water it, and where do I find a pot big enough.(it has a truck type base on the end) He told me that I wont need to water them at all, as it's only a week away Confused
I asked him how long ago it had been cut - he told me that all Christmas trees are cut at least a week before they go into garden centres / stores.

Anyway, at the time all seemed fine. We chose our tree, he wrapped it in the machine and we bought it home. Now I'm googling, and worried. I wish we had bought the pot grown one we saw in our local Dobbies. DH says I'm being unreasonable, and it will be fine.

It will be fine. Just find out how to water it ( redannie's advice is good) or ask at a garden centre.

If the guy sells them every year, they're probably decent trees but he just isn't an expert on after care and couldn't answer your questions in very knowledgeable way that's all.

We have a cut tree every year and we get it on the 1st of December. We go to a nursery and dh cuts it. Cut a sliver off the end of your tree and then put it in a stand with water. Keep the water topped up every couple of days. It will be fine!

A lot of trees are cut in Scotland in Mid November and shipped down to England.

You're seriously over thinking this.

I've had all sorts of Xmas trees: cut, in pots and fake.

I promise a cut tree will be fine. It's full of sap. It will last through Christmas.

Thanks for all the tips - I was overthinking, you're all right, as usual Xmas Grin

We bought it up and decorated. So far, all is good.

I'll be off to get one of those tree stands.

Have one every year and have never watered them. Haven't given it a second thought tbh. Has always lasted through the Xmas period
