My dd and ds go to the same school, now my dd got her 100% attendance award today but my ds didn't they haven't had a day off school this term so I don't understand..... the last time they did this they just said only we'll it's just one of thoses things and as I couldn't prove that he hadn't had a day off he wasn't getting it. I even got the teacher to check the register for the days they said he had been off and she had marked him away even though he was there.. they use a paper register if that helps.... I'm really peed off as I know he definitely hasn't had time off..... what should I do.... all week we have been saying to him, well done on Friday in the whole school assembly you will get your certificate.... I only discovered at 4.30 so too late to speak to school..... I just know all holiday it's going to bug me.....

The dental appointment means he does not have 100% attendance. He will be down as an 'M' that morning. Doesn't matter if he was in school around that time.

My DS is the same. Two lots of school time appointments this term (not my choosing, it's when the clinics are). In school around that time but no 100% attendance.

Sucks doesn't it.

I wou;dn't care about the attendance award but I would care about the fact that he was marked on the register as absent when he was actually in. That's an issue.

bunkai if he was there for register, he should be marked as present. He is then signed out at the office. In the event of a fire, the two registers are cross checked. Otherwise, if he is marked as absent in the morning but is actually at school, it's a safeguarding issue.

And even if a child isn't physically bought into school by the parent, at 5 years old there should be a formal 'handover' where parents cease to be responsible for the child and teachers are. At my school, this happens once the child is on the playground (parents are not allowed). A member of staff is on the gate to ensure that children do not leave. It should not be possible for a 5 year old to go missing in between (unless of course someone is neglectful).

Don't agree with them either tbh. Friend goes all out for her dd to get one every year because school give away prizes. Last year it was an electric scooter. All well and good but when her dd had a bout if d&v one evening you can guess who still appeared in class the following morning.
