To have a baby during a nursing degree

I'm in my twenties and going to uni in Sept 2017.
Just thinking of the future, really, and when to have a baby.
Has anyone had a baby during their nursing degree? Being a nurse is my passion but being a mother is my dream.
Options are to have a baby during the degree or to wait until I qualify, work for at least a year and then have a baby.
But I'm broody now & don't want to wait another 5-6 years. But having a baby at uni with all the placements seems impossible too!
Any experiences of the above?

Check to see if your uni does a part time pathway - I think Leicester did.
I was pregnant towards the end of mine, no issues, but then I carry easily.

Thanks everyone!
I think the majority are right. Much better to enjoy nursing then enjoy baby when the time comes.
Thanks though. This thread has made it clearer in my mind!
And I'm 25 as PP asked! So yes-plenty of time!

I did it, it was challenging but not impossible. I finished my first year, with 4 weeks to spare before my due date, rejoined the course after skipping year and finished with all placements completed. Uni weren't a massive help but placements were brilliant. I did have a bursary though, so I wouldn't jump to do it nowadays as I believe the full bursary ( including maternity pay) has now gone. But as far as the workload goes then I say "pah" to the naysayers! I managed it, had a great time, enjoyed my training and enjoyed being a new mum. I'm not saying you should do the same, if waiting suits you then do what feels right....just a bit annoyed about some of the more negative comments.

You will get maternity pay if you get an NHS bursary. Your bursary will continue for up to 52 weeks.

I'm about to have baby number 2 during my medical degree. I'm on a 4 year grad entry course so did a year, had a baby and a year off, did another year, now pregnant again (baby due in the summer so I can complete the year - it's worth trying to time them well as a lot of unis aren't keen on you interrupting mid-year) and will have another year off then return for final year. DS was an unexpected surprise - I wouldn't have planned it this way. But having started we thought we may as well carry on and embrace the madness. It's actually been ok - though organisation is crucial. My friend had her DD just before starting a nursing degree and I know she finds it touch sometimes with 12 hour shifts and childcare, but she's nearly finished now. It's definitely manageable. You just have to kiss goodbye to having much of a life otherwise Xmas Grin.

I had a baby in my midwifery training. Year out, maternity pay still graduated with a first. Hardest bit was seeing all my friends qualify a year ahead of me.

Honestly, I think it's easier being pregnant and becoming a mother during training than when newly qualified.
