Heavy wetter - advice needed!

Hi, hoping for some advice here. I posted in nappies but got no replies. So AIBU to expect cloth nappies to last for two children?

I've cloth bummed my toddler with no problems, use tots bots all in ones. Disposable at night. All good.

I now have a 4 month old and have been sporadically trying to use cloth, but she seems to be soaking wet after only an hour and a half to two hours. I changed her at 10 the other day and picked her up at 1145 and she was soaked though, clothes and all.

Dh says maybe it's because the nappies are old as we've been using them for over 2 years now. But they still seem to be fine on the toddler and lasting 3ish hours as they always have.

Anyone else had this problem? Is she likely to get better or worse? She's still quite small, in 0-3 month clothes with space in them, so could the nappies be still too small? Help!

Have you given them a strip wash?
Also ... i had a problem with ds having slim legs so although the fit looked right they weren't snug enough. Now he's bigger some work fine.
Another thought is the laminate layer might be failing on the waterproof layer (all in ones are worse for that).
But i have wraps that have done three children (with a 6 year gap)

two things: detergent build up can limit how much they absorb (wash once or twice without detergent)
another option is to try boosters?

Tots bots all in ones I must admit I don't use for more than 1 1/2 hours as any compression and they seem to wick easily. (These are new to 3rddc).
I used to have tots bots 2 parts but use different wraps.

or try a 2-piece system (bambino mio, little lamb etc). they tend to hold better (and are cheap on ebay)

Have you a chance to try other types (eg bambino mio seen to work better with ds than for dd). I also like close pop-ins.

Thanks for the replies. I have got some close pop ins, I'm not as keen on them as the tots bots but I could give them a try.

I could try the strip wash, I wash them in around a half dose of washing powder and napisan at the mo, so hopefully not too overloaded.

I have tried her in some lollypop nappies a friend gave me which are two part, she still seemed to be very wet very quickly.

They could be a bit big still, I have two newborn tots bots which I have used with boosters and they weren't too bad thinking about it.
