To not bother staying in this B&B

I was booked in twice for next year on business trips.
The lady rang me and asked if I'd already stayed which I said no to. She then said my card was giving her an error on her system and could she have a different credit card. I'd booked via booking.com so didn't understand why she'd need my details again.
Anyway she was very demanding and insisted she had a different card for her system. I explained that unfortunately my card has been lost so I was waiting for a new one. Whilst I was telling her this she was speaking over me and not listening. Just insisting on a different card.
I don't have any other card because I have just the one (which my 2 year old had hidden in the airing cupboard- we found it the other day- hence it being cancelled and reported as lost).
She then told me in that case I must ring her as soon as it arrives. Now I have fibromyalgia so my memory is absolutely shocking. I asked if she could possibly ring me on Friday (new card ordered on Saturday so will be here by then) and I'd be happy to give her the new details. Apparently she couldn't do this as "I have a 101 things to do myself than ringing people chasing them for card details" and then she finished with "I can just cancel the booking you know" to which I replied "yes cancel both bookings and we'll leave it at that".
I want to send an email complaining about how rude the lady was but I don't know whether I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill.
She made me feel like a piece of shit, especially when she asked half way through "Is there even any money on that card because that might be why it's not working", again very abruptly.

YANBU, her customer service skills are shite.

SharkBastard · 13/12/2016 17:49

YANBU, leave a review on trip advisor too!

baconandeggies · 13/12/2016 17:50

YANBU - do contact booking.com to check if she was legit

Crispbutty · 13/12/2016 17:51

Is she likely to be the owner? Unless it's a chain I doubt they would care, but if it were me I would put a review on trip advisor and booking.com about their rudeness.

JessieMcJessie · 13/12/2016 17:51

She's a rude cow. Give her a bad review on booking.com and stay somewhere else. Don't go overboard with the review weigh as long a story as you have given here, just keep it short and to the point e.g. "cancelled booking as owner extremely rude to me during a call to confirm payment details."

fourforksache · 13/12/2016 17:52

Yanbu, that all sounds very weird.

londonrach · 13/12/2016 17:55

Report this and sounds like a scam to get your card details.

Creampastry · 13/12/2016 17:57

Make sure you cancel the booking as well as complaining.

AradiasDaughter · 13/12/2016 18:08

I went on booking.com and cancelled it for free straight away on there. Glad to hear IANU. Very rare the vote comes out pretty unanimous on here Xmas Grin

I use booking.com a lot. Owners do this to avoid paying booking fee to booking.com. there is a facility on the website to change card details and you would get an e-mail from booking.com to say card was declined and asking you to check details. (I have had this when I have dozily entered wrong year etc.). Owners should not contact you directly unless it's to check arrival time etc.

baconandeggies · 13/12/2016 18:14

^ aha - sneaky. Do report to the website then and she might get removed from the listings.
