Someone that I know (an acquaintance if you like) has two DCs. I'm a little concerned over the drug use that is happening around them. The youngest daughter suffers with asthma but the parents smoke weed in the house (to the point where you can smell it outside) and blame the asthma on other factors. Apart from that I don't think that the children are getting the care that they should be getting, the was that the children are spoken to is appalling and one misses a lot of school. There are other factors but I don't want to out myself. Am I being judgey or is this something you would report? I just feel that if anything were to happen and I'd said nothing I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

You need to let social services know about this. Being exposed to drug use and missing school are not small issues. I wouldn't even hesitate

'Safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility' - so yes. Report it. Please.
I reported a family once for drug use and neglect, eventually with several incidents it all made up a case and children were removed. But that was after the family was offered and refused a lot of help. The kids are the important ones here.

Report.

Reed is absolutely horrible and smoking it around children is foul. I don't buy into that "it's harmless and better then alcohol shite" opinion. It's a gateway drug for a start and can lead to MH problems.

Poor kids.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 13/12/2016 15:11

They may also be taking other drugs that you don't know about but even if not they cannot look after children while high. Please please report

Report

DearMrDilkington · 13/12/2016 15:13

That must be unbearable for the child with asthma.Sad

UnbornMortificado · 13/12/2016 15:13

Reed = Weed

Fluffsnuts · 13/12/2016 15:19

Yes please report it. Directly to social services (definitely not via school and preferably not through the nspcc). You will need names and addresses for the children (at least one) and preferably dates of birth, though it's ok if you don't have them.

scottishdiem · 13/12/2016 15:24

Report. A sly bit of weed in the garage or at the end of the garden is one thing. This is neglect.

Violetcharlotte · 13/12/2016 15:26

I think you should report it. You'd never forgive yourself if something were to happen to those children and you'd not spoken up.

DeleteOrDecay · 13/12/2016 15:42

Yes definitely report. I am not against weed, but smoking it inside where children are present is disgusting. It stinks for a start and I bet the children and their clothes smell of it too, not to mention the health implications. Not a good environment for children at all.

It also sounds like they are neglecting them in other ways so it definitely needs looking into.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 13/12/2016 15:46

How old are the children ? I'd be surprised that someone else (nursery / school) hasn't smelt the weed on their clothes .

Poor mites - def report

Gooseygoosey12345 · 13/12/2016 15:49

Ah I'm glad I anbu! Who would I report it to? I've never had to do anything like this before. Youngest must be 8ish. We live in a really nice area (hope that doesn't sound snobby) so it was a bit of a shock!

I think if you googled you'd be able to find a number or online form for your local ss? I have no idea as I've never done it before but if I did find myself in that position that's where I'd start anyway.

Thirtyrock39 · 13/12/2016 15:51

Children's social care - start with ringing council and they will put you in touch or give you a contact number

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 13/12/2016 15:54

I would report as it's all the factors together make it quite concerning.
