Christmas Card ritual

AIBU to stop sending Christmas Cards to people I never see? When my husband was alive, we would send cards to all his aunts, uncles and cousins. We saw most of them around once a year if that although he perhaps visited if his work took him in their direction. I have now been widowed 15 years, and still get cards from his aunts, who I never see and a couple of cousins I have not seen since their mothers funeral 10 years ago. I do keep in contact with my MIL and obviously send cards and gifts to her, and will probably see her at Christmas. I just feel it's pointless sending Christmas cards to people I never see or speak to, and probably never will.

Honestly I would still send them. It mind be a nice little reminder of your husband when they receive that card from you. And it doesn't take much time or effort but can mean a lot.

Sorting Scout post and there are many badly addressed cards, which to me suggests they don't correspond regularly or know each other well enough to say "oh what number do you live at again?". Fwiw I do my best to match them to the right address based on name but i don't know if either Royal Mail or 10 year old scouts would bother.

So I wouldn't bother if your only contact all year is a Christmas card. Or make an effort to contact them more frequently

I see it as an opportunity to send some news to people I never see, but of whom I have fond memories of their company when my life had different priorities. I especially like to send cards to elderly relatives.

I don't think it would be terrible to cross a few names off the list if you've lost touch. I'm tempted to do the same as I've just spent £40 on stamps.
