My daughter was at nursery on Friday and was bitten quite badly by another child, let's call him Fred.
The nursery staff told me about the incident and had an accident form all filled out ready for me to sign. It was my dd3 who told me it was Fred and that he scared her. Nursery confirmed that was ds was saying was correct.
She is due to return on Monday for her am session and she doesn't want to go. She is crying getting very distressed saying Fred scared her and she doesn't want to go.
She normally loves it and is very bright and confident. Do I make her go?

I wouldn't.

crazyoldc4tlady · 11/12/2016 16:59

I would speak to nursery to see what kind of measures they put in place to make sure it won't happen again.

How long do you plan to keep her off? or are you considering another setting.

I would have pressure from work and would send her in but I don't know your circumstances.

OSETmum · 11/12/2016 17:01

I would send her but speak to the teachers and make sure they know that she is scared. The thing is, if you let her not go now, every time something bad happens, she'll think the answer is to not go again. Also, unless you're planning to move her, she'lol have to go back eventually.

Sweets101 · 11/12/2016 17:54

Not if she's really upset no. I'do probably let her have an extra weeks Xmas hols and with her being little hope it was forgotten by the new term.

Sweets101 · 11/12/2016 17:54

I'd let the nursery know why though

Castleheights · 11/12/2016 18:02

Depends on your work commitment, if you have to work of course she must go to nursery, but, speak to staff for their measures avoiding this again.
If you can manage it, don't send her, but, with reassurance, she might surprise you and cope really well.
I guess I'd be concerned about managing the expectation not to go to nursery/school when something upsetting happens. Life is shit sometimes.

bumsexatthebingo · 11/12/2016 18:08

I would reassure your dd that you would speak to the teacher but I would be wary about keeping her off as it I think you need to show her problems at nursery/school can be sorted out rather than she has to avoid the place.

Thanks all for your replies. We've had a chat whilst she was in the bath and she's going to go. I said she shouldn't miss out on doing something she enjoys because someone else was naughty.
I will speak with staff most definitely too.
We are very lucky in the fact that she doesn't need to go it's more a thing she likes to do. Dh works thurs-sun nights and I do mon-thurs days, so one of us is always around.
Like others have said I don't want her to think not going solves the issue.
