look deteriorated, bobbly and colours tend to fade very easily! Ive tried it all, even hand wash programme doesn't make a huge difference...Aibu or the quality of good makers, I used to love, is becoming very dissapointing?? but prices are still high and sometimes increasing! How do you "look after" your lovely stuff?

I tend to check the labels inside for the fabric composition as it'd give me an idea of how long lasting ithe garment may be - whether it's a wool coat (70% above is preferable), cashmere jumper, silk top, or a wool skirt suit, cotton shirt etc.

If it says dry clean, then DRY CLEAN it. Wash everything inside out. Wash delicates in a zipped net/mesh bag, or hand wash. Don't use fabric conditioner.

I always keep my most expensive dresses and all my work wool suits in zipped up clothes bag or in those big plastic wrappers that the dry cleaners give out. I make sure they're fully protected and hung carefully in my closet.

I don't throw away shoe boxes, as keep all my shoes in the boxes. Keep handbags in dust bags.

CrossfireHurricane contact them please, I would like to know what they say to you.

Thanks for all the tips, I didn't expect so many answers, brill. The only thing I'm a bit confused is if it's preferable not to use fabric conditioners because some of you prefer not and some use it nearly every time...

My clothes never bobble or fade at all (possibly luck) but here's what I do: Minimal soap powder, always Ariel to keep the pipes clear, sometimes a tiny dash of softener but usually not, always an extra rinse. Tumble dry if allowed but never denim. I do live in a soft water area however, so perhaps that's the biggest factor.

I've never really rated Boden quality - I think it's overpriced & mass-produced. And some of their stuff is rather awkwardly cut. Contrarily, the cashmere cardigans I bought from Primark (yes, they used to do cashmere) last & last. But my N. Peal cashmere doesn't pill at all, and is still going strong after 6 years of day in day out wear.

I don't think brand is a guarantee of quality: you've got to know enough about fabric and the construction of clothes to really judge quality.

I've never been a fan of Boden too. Some clothes from White Stuff are frumpy and the fabric they use looks rather faded and washed out. My bf was mortified when he saw the granny pants at White Stuff Smile

There's a detailed explanation on how fabric conditioner works and why it can be damaging if not used correctly on wiki. It can damage your designer jeans or your favourite fitness/workout clothes!

I am going to my nearest store over the weekend so I will try to call in.
Thing is..I haven't even washed it yet!
Bought it last winter and only just started wearing it.
Will report back.
