Is this a rubbish present?

I'm useless at buying presents, so need some advice. My DP has been going on for ages about 'really needing' a particular health and beauty treatment at a local salon. I've found out how much this costs and was going to buy a voucher for this place to that amount with a bit extra.

I've bought other bits and pieces but this would be the 'main' present - I can't decide if this is a rubbish present (as it's a voucher, which is usually a no-no for DPs) or if it would be welcome. Any thoughts?

i'd love that, rather than a load of shit you bought that i didn't need or want...

JellyBelli · 09/12/2016 12:37

If your DP has been hinting for ages then its a really thoughtful present.

wotsitsorcheetos · 09/12/2016 12:38

I think it's a great present. More so seeing that that is what they have 'kind of' asked for ;)

EmeliaHerveyHenryFitzroy · 09/12/2016 12:40

If that's what they'd enjoy then go for it. What hod said. Smile

SaucyJack · 09/12/2016 12:40

I dunno.

Is it a relaxation experience or an anti-ugliness treatment?

A massage is nice. No one wants to wake up on Xmas morning to a voucher for an upper lip wax.

K425 · 09/12/2016 12:41

If I'd been going on for ages about needing a treatment and DH got me a voucher for it, I'd be delighted!

gamerchick · 09/12/2016 12:41

Always take heed of the hints.

Temporaryname137 · 09/12/2016 12:43

Sounds nice to me :)

EmeliaHerveyHenryFitzroy · 09/12/2016 12:45

Oh dear, saucyjack has thrown a spanner into the works - I'd agree there with saucy - it's not a bikini wax or some such torture disguised as a "beauty treatment"?

RatOnnaStick · 09/12/2016 12:46

Sounds like your DP has been dropping hints in the hope you'll do just that. If it were me I'd much prefer something like that than some wrapped tat I didn't ask for.

Darmody · 09/12/2016 12:46

Is it a relaxation experience or an anti-ugliness treatment?

It's very much the first one!!

No I don't think its rubbish at all . Sounds like something she wants so ideal you buying a voucher.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 09/12/2016 12:55

If its a relaxation type thing and they've been hinting about it, then it's great. Dh did this for me the first christmas after having DD. I loved him so much for it!

LagunaBubbles · 09/12/2016 12:57

Why are vouchers a no-no for DPs? Ive bought my DH a voucher for a new pair running trainers this year as hes doing a marathon next year, he will get professionally fitted for them rather me just grabbing whatever I see in a sports shop! Grin

SelfCleaningVagina · 09/12/2016 12:58

I think if it's at a really nice salon and it's a treat he/she could not usually justify spending out on for themselves but have said they'd like to have then I think it's a great present.

S1lentAllTheseYears · 09/12/2016 13:03

Lovely present especially if you cheerfully look after any small children you may have while she goes for the treatment Grin

blackcherries · 09/12/2016 13:10

If this is for a DH and it's a 'particularly relaxing treatment' he's 'really needed' for ages then maybe be careful with adding 'a bit extra' onto it... we have some of those massage places near us...

(kidding - sounds like a great idea)

Dagnabit · 09/12/2016 13:13

blackcherries 😂😂

Sounds like a great idea to me!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/12/2016 13:16

If it's something DP wants then it's an excellent present Xmas Grin.

KitKat1985 · 09/12/2016 13:20

I'd really love that. Hoping my DH gets me something similar actually. Xmas Smile

MommaGee · 09/12/2016 13:27

If you're my partner and are referring to the hints I keep dropping about getting a massage, please buy me the voucher. And maybe kne for afternoon tea with prosecco afterwards.

Tia

Lovewineandchocs · 09/12/2016 13:31

I'm assuming it's just a gift voucher for that particular health/beauty place and doesn't specify "upper lip wax" or the like Grin in that case I think it's a brilliant present.

girlelephant · 09/12/2016 13:46

As he's been talking about it I'm sure he'll find it to be a great gift! Perhaps something he can't justify spending on himself
