Is this an adequate meal?

I'm talking in relation to portion size. I know it's technically not a healthy meal but I'm literally thinking size.

Family of 4, an 18 month old, 8 year old, dh and me.

Fish fingers, 3 for dh and 2 each for the rest of us.

Cheese and potato pie made with 5 medium to large potatoes.

1 tin of beans between us.

Of course the toddler had slightly less mash and beans than everyone else.

Fruit and yoghurt for pudding.

What do you think?

I don't really know what cheese and potato pie is (sorry, foreigner here), but it doesn't really sound substantial enough in my eyes!

Why were people saying "DH would eat a 1/4 of the pie and 3 potatoes?

Because there are big parts of the country who'd serve up an actual pie if they said they'd made cheese and potato pie and who know what the OP served up as cheesy mash.

Well balanced meal, in equal sizes, would be 1 portion starch, 1 portion protien, 2 portion vegetables, preferably 1 green and one orange.

I'll never understand the hate that the potato gets on here. It's a cheap, very nutritious staple. Potatoes are extremely good for you, in the right amount. It's better for you than rice, which is what is often recommended instead.

If someone gave me 2 fish fingers for my tea I'd be like "where's the rest"? I'm a young slim woman but I still need to eat, dammit.

In all seriousness I don't think it's that bad, but give yourself an extra fish finger FGS. Grin
