To have been a bit surprised at where the Amazon delivery people left my parcel?

Had an Amazon delivery today. The exact delivery date wasn't specified when I ordered, so I wasn't in to receive the package.

They pushed a note through my front door saying that they had left it in a safe place - my black wheelie bin! Shock

Initially I thought they meant behind the bin or something, but no, there it was, in the bin, on top of all my rubbish. I was glad that it had arrived and that I didn't need to rearrange delivery, but WIBU to find the bin rather an odd place to leave the package?!

Amazon et al always put my parcels in the bin, but up near the house not out for collection. I have a dedicated parcel bin now.

The postman did this to me the other day. It was a toy for ds for Christmas and it stank!!

Never in the black but commonly in the blue or red in the past. Had it behind the black but inside is odd.

Don't you have a local amazon locker, 9/10 I get it delivered to one of them as it's about 5 minutes walk.

My safe place is normally behind my bin. Often I get parcels in my bin... that doesn't bother me really. Today tho my parcel was propped against my front door in full view of the street! Not very happy about that one!

I had an Amazon order last week, it was coming as two deliveries.
Tracking said the first part was out for delivery and it didn't show up - I then got an email saying there had been a problem with it and if it hadn't shown up by a certain date (4 or 5 days later) to get in touch -no further details. (In fact I double checked it wasn't a scam email as it was so unspecific)
Meanwhile I got another email saying the second part was out for delivery the next day. I was in all day but had to go out in the evening -DP works early so goes to bed early but waited up till 8pm (supposedly their latest delivery time) as it needed a signature - no delivery. I got back at gone 9pm to find the two parcels sitting on the door step...you couldn't see them directly off the road but they weren't hidden at all and could be seen if you walked past. I don't think they rang the doorbell as that would have woken DP up. The house was in darkness - looked empty...
I wasn't expecting the original parcel that day - if it had been nicked I probably wouldn't have realised for days...
And it could have been out all night - uncovered - and it rained really heavily overnight...
And who signed for it Hmm
And my last Amazon order was more or less thrown at me by a surly driver...another that supposedly needed a signature - but he was heading off down the path when I opened the door - he'd left the parcel on the step...(had to come back and get me to sign -maybe why he was surly)

I miss Yodel - our delivery driver was fantastic, really friendly and helpful and always came at around the same time ...(although I know people moaned about them, I never had a problem)
And I like DPD - our driver (Steve ) is cheerful and I love their tracking - you can follow their drivers on a map ...
Only other company I've had an issue with is CItilink -years ago swore they'd tried to deliver and I was out - I had to go to collect 20+miles away or pay for redelivery - they said they had a photo of my front door to prove they had been - when I asked them to email a copy of the photo they back pedalled and delivered the next day (no extra charge)
(Our bins round the back - so not had bin issues)

One year, I had a parcel put in my bin by the postman, on the day the bin men came and emptied it :( Problem was, the postie was a friend, who thought he was doing me a favour. I didn't report it, I just let it go.
