Parents complain that they don't know about x or y going on at the school, that they are never informed and how unorganised the school are and as soon as you mention "it's on the newsletter" they just dismiss it with "oh i never read those" or "they should tell us in person too". We get a paper copy newsletter,an email or it and an online copy on Parentmail. But nope...it's the school's fault !!

Yep. Same here. Twats.

YANBU! I have a school mum friend who I get on very well with but she treats me as a school diary as she knows actually do read the newsletter and put relevant events in my calendar. It's very annoying!

RebelRogue · 07/12/2016 17:17

Wookie why popcorn?

I think the popcorn is because it's going to get exciting.

BeingATinselTwatItsABingThing · 07/12/2016 17:19

I am not telling every parent individually about every event. RTFN!

5foot5 · 07/12/2016 17:20

Nah! The parents in these circumstances are being such obvious twats that I can't see anyone telling the OP that she is BU or falling out over it.

Budge up Wookie

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 07/12/2016 17:21

I wish DD's school had a newsletter, then I would know what is going on.

Not a school but ... today was our office Christmas meal, at 3 pm. We were talking about this at mid-day and one of my (more senior) colleagues asked "What Christmas meal? I didn't know about that".

Despite the fact that I have emailed her twice, someone else has emailed her once, and the menu's been in the kitchen area for over a week.

user1471455692 · 07/12/2016 17:52

At our last buildings residents meeting someone said that the important news from the meeting should be in the e-mail subject so he didn't have to read the previous minutes. I don't think I can go to the next one...

DiegeticMuch · 07/12/2016 18:11

It's ridiculous how disorganised some people are. It's not hard to read an email and then diarise stuff. Oddly, it's never the working parents with 3+ children who repeatedly ask dumb questions on the PTA Facebook page.

LineyReborn · 07/12/2016 18:15

Where I live, there are a number of people with literacy issues. They daren't admit it because of the snobbery shown towards them.

Word of mouth works for them.

Liney do they moan though that the school/teacher/head/PTA and the rest of world are unorganised and incompetent and mock their name to show just how "wrong" they are?

If not, then fair enough and whatever works.

LineyReborn · 07/12/2016 20:31

Dixie I'm talking about white British families with literacy problems. It's such a hidden problem - and becoming generational - and I'm not sure what is going to happen in some of the areas it affects, which are both urban and rural.

These families definitely rely on word of mouth.

LineyReborn · 07/12/2016 20:35

Rebel that sounds defensive behaviour, and I'd hazard a guess it's because they're not reading the emails / newsletters. I'd wonder why, tbh.

Or, they're pretending not to, and being PA arseholes.

I guess those who know them would be able to have a guess at which is which?

If they're being horrible about named people, that's not excusable.

arethereanyleftatall · 07/12/2016 20:44

Yanbu.
It wouldn't be so bad if this type of parent said 'I've fucked up, I'm so busy, can anyone remind me when the meeting is?' No problem. But it's never that, its ' I was never told about that'. Argh. Yanbu.

Itchyclit · 07/12/2016 20:47

I get SMS reminders from dd's primary which is a useful reminder in case a letter home has gone AWOL. I know a couple of parents who know about this & haven't bothered to walk from the playground to the school office to register, yet moan. Fuck 'em, they've only got themselves to blame.
