To change my baby's name?

So, myself and dp split up, I am 21 weeks pregnant with his child, we now have absolutely NC...he's also not interested in the baby at all.

We agreed on a name well, we compromised...I chose the first name and he chose the middle name with the decision to have my last name as me and him weren't married (well doesn't matter now as we aren't even together anymore!)

Anyways, the middle name he chose, I personally don't like it and don't want it, would I BU to change the baby's name when he arrives??

You are right, maybe after xmas & new year after he's got his 30th birthday celebrations out the way, he may pull his finger out of his ass & think it's time to grow up!

On the other hand, he may not & il be honest, I'm putting my Monday on the latter!

Place your bets please!

He sounds awful. However Logan isn't too awful so I'd probably do firstname James Logan surname.

Given your history with this guy (he is the one who called the police on you, yes? Assaulted you at his mothers?), whether he pops up or not is not really the issue is it? You both need to keep away from each other, its best for all concerned, especially your child.

Name the child what you like, cut the bastard out of your life and move on. Even if he does turn up again then he will probably bugger off again pretty quickly. Better for your child to have no contact at all than have his dad drifitng in and out of his life.

Dont forget to claim maintenance from him, he can walk away from your son but cant stop being responsible for him.

Bogeyface · 05/12/2016 23:03

Oh and nix the Logan, horrible name.

ollieplimsoles · 05/12/2016 23:10

Once you see your precious innocent little baby boy op, you wont have it in your heart to give him a name you don't like just for the sake of a worthless, abusive arsehole that doesn't deserve a son. Trust me.

SlottedSpoon · 06/12/2016 04:46

James is much nicer than Logan. Logan is horrible. Your son won't think 'great, Dad chooses my middle name and then fucks off and leaves me' because either a) you choose James or b) you choose Logan but you don't bang on and on in front of your child about how hid dad chose his name only to fuck off and leave him.

In fact whatever name you choose, you should resist the temptation to project your own anger and frustration onto your child about his Dad at all costs. It's very damaging and will give him all sorts of issues.

Are you the OP who has been harrassing your ex and his boss so he has cut all contact?

You are only 21weeks pregnant, you have about another 21 to go. Thats a long time. Maybe then when the baby is born and after you have stopped harrassing your ex he might want to see his child. Now he may not want to be involved because honestly there is nothing he can do right now because the baby isnt born yet.

This is what I was wondering.

Name your baby what you like but if you are the OP of the harassment thread, well, a lot can change between now and April.

SandyFeet177 · 06/12/2016 05:34

If he's not around or doesn't show interest once the baby is here, I'd call him whatever you want without a second thought.
