To tell a little white lie to Santa?

We are taking our baby to see Santa today.
She is 7 months old but was premature so still rather small.
It is free for babies under 6 months but they get no present, or £9.99 for 6months+ who do get a present.
It's then £2 per parent and £10 per photo.

We intend to both go in and get a family photo which we will buy (maybe even 2 or 3). On the booking I put DD as under 6months, she won't know what's going on and doesn't need a present from it. She just won't know - we are mainly going to get a nice festive photo as a memory.
She will definitely get away for being under 6 months as she's diddy but I'm starting to feel guilty.

AIBU? Am I going straight to hell on the naughty list?
Should I fess up and pay when I get there? Xmas Blush

YANBU. I think that's a total rip off, £9.99 for a baby that won't have a clue what's happening? And £2 for parents, for what exactly?

OnTheNaughtyList · 04/12/2016 11:01

I'm not sure about the parent cost, I guess maybe as the 'free' 6 month old time slot could have been taken up by a fully paying child it's a way to covering opportunity cost?

Why are you taking a 7 month old baby to see Santa? What's the point?

OnTheNaughtyList · 04/12/2016 11:03

To get a nice Christmas photo, we intend to take her each year and look back at them.

Since you made the decision to lie when you booked I don't see how you can have an attack of conscience when you get there.

dementedpixie · 04/12/2016 11:03

Yanbu, go for it

ClashCityRocker · 04/12/2016 11:03

9.99 for a seven month old baby?!

You're not being unreasonable.

burgundyandgoldleaves · 04/12/2016 11:04

In this case, I think no.

But I do think when they are old enough to understand, you do need to tell the truth.

IAmAPaleontologist · 04/12/2016 11:04

Flipping heck, the Santa at our village Christmas fair is fab and only costs a couple of quid. I'd go for a different Christmas tradition if I were you!

dementedpixie · 04/12/2016 11:05

And your buying photos at £10 each so it's not as if your visit is free. Can't believe what they charge for a baby anyway, total rip off

dementedpixie · 04/12/2016 11:05

You're *

OnTheNaughtyList · 04/12/2016 11:07

Pixie that's what I thought, if I didn't intend to buy a photo I wouldn't be going I'd have paid for their time.

I don't understand why they don't do price bands
0-6months free
6-24 months £2
2years + £5

Type thing..

The fees may be a rip off but people have the choice of whether to pay.
And this is a really twee thread title - it's a lie whatever colour you put on it and you didn't tell it "to Santa".
If you think it's ok people's opinions will vary and a good few will agree with you. If you're going to justify it own it.

OnTheNaughtyList · 04/12/2016 11:12

Sooty the thread title was meant to be lighthearted.
I'm not justifying it, I've explained my reasoning and I'm now asking for opinions on whether or not to come clean and pay. Happy to hear both sides of the opinions, hence why I posted in AIBU.

I wouldn't worry about it Op - go & get your nice pic.

ilovesooty · 04/12/2016 11:17

Oh... lighthearted. Sorry, but the tree "white lie" annoys me anyway.
As I said, having lied initially I think it would be incredibly embarrassing to confess when you get there so you might as well go through with it.

ilovesooty · 04/12/2016 11:18

Term not tree, sorry.

Soubriquet · 04/12/2016 11:19

Yanbu

Our local Santa does it at £7.50 for all ages of children with a gift and £1.50 for any adult or children who aren't seeing Santa

Because there's a big winter wonderland to walk through aswell with a mini train ride. You can then go in and see Santa or go down a different route and straight out
