AIBU about this bonus?

I just wanted to ask people if, when their employer offers them a bonus for introducing a friend to work at the company, do you take all that bonus yourself, or do you split it with your friend?

Not sure what the etiquette is really. It's £750 for a friend who completes their probationary period.

Has anyone here ever done this. Or have you been the person who was introduced and did you mind your friend getting all the bonus?

If my friend had recommended me for a job and I got it, I wouldn't be expecting money from her as well. She'd already have done me a huge favour and taken the risk that I'd turn out to be rubbish and make her look bad.

Keep it yourself, if you want to be nice you could offer to take them out for lunch.

Companies offer these bonuses because it saves them thousands in recruitment agency fees, can't see an agency sharing its fee with the person it's placed.

Keep it yourself - unless your newly-employed friend offers you part of their paycheck Grin

I've recently introduced a friend to my workplace. I got £1k after 1 month then £1k after 6 months probation. I took her out for lunch with the first payment and will do the same for the final one this month. She's over the moon with that and loves her new job. No need to split it any more than that!

OK, thanks everyone, i'll just stick to a nice lunch out - if she gets the job!

I was introduced to a job by a friend and she got the money. Never occurred to me to ask for any of it.....
