To ask how I get the money my employer owes me?

I just left a job for several reasons, one of which being that the employer was in financial difficulty with various cashflow issues. This had become pretty obvious as I tried to do my job with invoices not being paid, no money being spent etc.

Luckily I am now in a great new role. However my previous employer owes me a substantial sum of money for expenses.

They have tried to make out that these are included in my final salary payment but they are not; and if they were then they shouldn't be, as I don't pay tax on them. It is around £300 for mileage (fuel), phone bill (they didn't provide me with one) and parking etc.

AIBU to want this money back and to ask for advice on how I go about getting it?

Since receiving my P45 the company are ignoring my calls and emails.

I'd ring ACAS for advice on this, it might be a sketchy area depending on what your contract says.

Ask for a copy of your final payslip. It should show each item separately - wages, holidays etc. If you think it's wrong, I would suggest formally writing to the company outlining what you think your due and asking for their response. If no response received or you're not satisfied with their response contact ACAS who should give you free, impartial advice and can act as a conciliation service. Good luck
