To think 4 year olds immune system is not ready for school

Since my dd started school she has picked up every vomiting bug, cold or illness going round and I think it's because her immune system is not mature enough she has a daily multi vitamin and eats a very balanced healthy diet so not sure what else I can do. She loves school and is learning loads but I can't help but think 5 would be a better age to start. I'm sick of a new illness coming into the house.

If she goes to uni in 14 years time you may find she gets "freshers flu". When so many people converge they bring with them all their germs and illnesses and they spread like wildfire. Age is virtually irrelevant - it's whether you'd have the illness before that matters.

Ames she had only had one bad vomiting bug since September it's mostly colds

My DD hasn't gone more than 3 days without throwing up for over a month. I understand this is not unusual for starting nursery for the first time in the winter.

How old is your dd oysterbabe?

imjessie · 03/12/2016 17:40

I'd say that is fairly unusual oyster to be honest .. my kids were barely ill in nursery or school . Illness isn't always inevitable .

Just popped on to say I have weakened immune system and still went to school aged 4. Didn't do any lasting damage and I don't really remember having loads of bugs even though I did.
I also got the infamous freshers flu as did many others. It's just new germs in a close environment that's all. Try not to worry even though it's hard!!

She's 11 months.

This happened when my first born started school too. It didn't happen to his siblings who had already picked up everything going from their older brother.

TBH wherever you get a group of people put together from unfamiliar enviroments you are likely to come down with something. I work at a university and we all suffer come September as the new bugs do the rounds.
