to stop Christmas cards next year?

I'm thinking of stopping sending Christmas cards from next year. They're a bloody pain in the arse and a waste of money and paper.

I'm thinking that this year in my cards I might put a little message saying I'm going to stop cards from next year and give the money to a charity.

Anyone else stopped cards? Would you be miffed if you received a card this year saying you won't get one next year?

Some of the people I send cards to I haven't seen in over 15 years, we have a weird relationship. If I stop cards it's likely I'll never be in contact with them again. I'm not bothered by this. I don't know why I'm telling you really!!

I think you are over thinking it, I love cards but don't remember who does or doesn't send them yr on yr, I wouldn't notice, a part from I love cards that are meant for the previous owner of the house! I'd kiss them especially.

I think the note might make me feel 'she thinks me sending cards is a waste of my time and money and I that I should be donating to charity rather than sending cards'. Maybe I am sensitive. Also not a massive fan of people broadcasting their charity giving.

Kiss?! I meant miss!

shake I hadn't thought about it like that actually. Very good point. I was only going to put the charity thing in to make it sound less like 'I'm just not bothering with you' Grin

I also love cards for previous occupants, my first card this year was for a family who haven't lived here for at least six years Confused

I've stopped them this year and made a donation to a local homeless shelter instead. The only exception is my 90 year old grandmother who would spontaneously combust if she didn't get a card.

I think I note saying you are taking a yr off cards, call it a sebatical and then either restart or not bother, noone will remember

I'm not sending cards this year (except about 10 to older family/friends).
Instead in going to make sure I call up all those friends who I haven't spoken to in the last 6 months and wish them a Merry Christmas. If I consider someone a good friend I feel a bit sad sending a card if I haven't seen/spoken to them for ages Sad
