To be gutted that the Lindt truffle in my advent calendar this morning was COCONUT flavour

What a horrible start to the day. Why? Why does coconut have to exist as a flavour? Why, Lindt, why? An advent calendar might not be exactly religious, but it's not supposed to be evil. Coconut is only surpassed in its sheer hideousness by the outrage that is coffee.

Which is why any tub of "celebrations" or "roses" will inevitably end up lined with bounties and coffee cremes (coffee crimes more like) when all the tasty treats have been scoffed.

AIBU to have set the Lindor factory on fire and sued them for millions for GBH and emotional distress* ? AIBU to think that coconut and coffee flavoured chocolates should be illegal?

  • ok fine, given it to DP, much to his glee, the coconut eating deviant

Us coconut and coffee chocolate lovers are in the minority, fortunately at the time of year it does mean that the bottom of any sweet tin is up for grabs.

harderandharder2breathe · 02/12/2016 11:56

Yanbu but you have made me stop wishing I had a Lindt one

Temporaryname137 · 02/12/2016 12:21

Some vile former friend just posted a picture of the coconut ones on my facebook page. The box actually says "limited edition". NO THEY ARE NOT, THEY ARE HORRIFYINGLY PREVALENT!

Tinkerbubbletrouble · 02/12/2016 12:21

YANBU. Waking up to chocolate spoiled by coconut would ruin my day

Temporaryname137 · 02/12/2016 12:22

Also yes, to a PP, the orange ones are delicious - and conspicuous by their absence from this calendar. They must have ditched them for the coconut balls of doom. But at least there are no dark chocolate ones.

Normally I think these truffles should be in the fridge, all cold and hard and cracking chocolate and smooth in the middle, but even I had to admit that keeping an advent calendar in the fridge would be weird, so.

I bought dh the Lindt bear one and he was very disappointed that yesterday's was a small chocolate ball! Just one! The advent calendar is huge and they start with one small chocolate ball! Outraged.

toffee1000 · 02/12/2016 12:26

I don't really like flavoured chocolate much. Toffee chocolate is ok, but coconut/strawberry/etc is not. Which is why I don't like chocolate orange/Jaffa cakes. They just taste bitter and artificial to me. Admitting you don't like chocolate orange on here though is almost tantamount to sacrilege Grin

JaneAustinAllegro · 02/12/2016 12:28

LTB. How could he ruin your Christmas like this? It's worse than my drama with broken toys in the kids' Smiggle calendars yeseterday. Way worse.

(NB where did you buy this calendar? I need to know. For "research" purposes... just in case)

Also- who mentioned a NEW dark chocolate one? different to the usual black wrapped ones? please describe (in great detail).

Phew, I got the red one with the bears in it and got a lovely little lindt teddy for breakfast. I love the person who bought it for me (which would be me...)

Temporaryname137 · 02/12/2016 15:48

My OH said he tried waitrose and sains before getting it from tesco. Bet they're half price today - AND you get to eat two days in one go. Win!

I love any type of fruit creams and coffee creams. I noticed in Tesco you can actually buy boxes in of Quality Street that are just the creams or just the toffees/fudges. Have to say, despite loving coconut, I'm not a fan of the Lindor ones. I prefer coconut to have some texture, like Bounty, not just a coconut flavour cream.

Wizlau · 02/12/2016 16:02

I have the same one as you OP and got caramel! I'm beginning to think I should have just bought a box of the red ones though as I didn't enjoy the caramel one and the rest of the day has only gone downhill from there.
