WWYD - Flu Nasal Spray

My DTs are almost 6 and due to have flu sprays in school this afternoon.

One twin has come down with a cold and sore throat . He also has a cough which for the past few nights has turned to croup at night (I'm familiar with the barking sound !)

His nose is snotty and he has woken up crying saying his throat is sore. Slightly raised temperature too - although the thermometer wasn't working so I can't be sure Hmm .

I can't see any redness but his tonsils are huge anyway so I can't really tell Confused

He's gone to school , he's generally OK in himself but with a sore throat , runny nose and a croup like cough.

Do I cancel his vaccine?

I'm torn as I'll have one vaccinated twin and one not .

Being snot-ridden prevents effective delivery of a nasal vaccine.

Can you ask if there's a catch-up programme, and book twin2 in for that once his nose is clear?

They're not meant to have it if they have a temperature . I had same problem with my little one but his temperature went just in time. But you can try and take him yourself on a week or so to Dr's or boots? Book asap though as is a 3 week waiting list here

I'm sure you'll be able to take poorly twin to have vaccine at GP when he's better.

SerialReJoiner · 30/11/2016 09:34

Should not be given when poorly.

def not well enough to have today.
Any eligible child missed at school can have the vaccine at a GP Surgery.
Your reception staff at the surgery may not be familiar with this fact so ask to speak with a Practice Nurse
