Why are threads on Daily Mail ?

I am fed up of constantly seeing different threads from Mumsnet appearing on Daily Mail news online. The usernames are being quoted and it is concerning that confidentiality is being compromised .
Am I the alone in feeling that MN HQ should stop this or explain why this is being allowed to happen ?
This forum has always been a place for parents to discuss some sensitive and sometimes painful issues in their lives and it seems awful that they may see them rewritten in the Daily Mail.

OP posts:

"If you read the DM site you are a DM reader even if you never buy a paper copy."

You don't say? Thanks for the enlightenment!

I have copyright of what I put on my own blog

This isn't your blog.

No, but you and the rest are tedious.

FarAwayHills · 29/11/2016 19:47

Just shows what drivel the DM is that their journalistic skills are limited to lifting stuff from a parenting forum.

MrsHathaway · 29/11/2016 19:49

Incidentally the DM (also the Mirror and the Independent among others) never copy a whole thread. I doubt I've seen more than ten posts from a single thread in one article.

MrsHathaway · 29/11/2016 19:50

Clarify: I have the DM website blocked (Kitten Block - highly recommend) but I've seen screen shots etc.

MummyStep123 · 29/11/2016 19:54

Has there been another one? Last one I was told about was the "destination wedding" thread! I don't read Daily Mail so I miss these articles.

limitedperiod you are tedious, the op has already apologised and said that she was unaware of other threads. Now Naff off !

Surely you are underestimating the value of parenting forums.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago where a poster thought she was having a heavy period but was in fact bleeding to death.

She was persuaded by MNtters to go to A&E. It turns out that she could have died but her life was saved in the nick of time. It was very thrilling.

Everyone patted themselves on the backs about the power of MN and the thread was nominated for Classics.

Then it was picked up by the Daily Mirror. The OP had it deleted and various posters congratulated her for doing so.

I don't understand why a thread that warned women about the dangers of unexplained, prolonged and copious vaginal bleeding was withdrawn and to popular approval because it was lifted.

It was almost as if people on MN didn't want to share the secret with the readers of the Daily Mirror.

Surely that's not so?

MN HQ could create a few members only forums with code that prevents screenshots for the sensitive stuff, but that's presuming it's not them feeding the info to DM in the first place.

BakeOffBiscuits · 29/11/2016 20:22

I don't know why they don't rename both sites The Daily Mumsnet

Maybe they've done that colby but you're just not there

Manumission · 29/11/2016 20:26

Don't joke Bake 😲

FuckYouDailyMail · 29/11/2016 20:34

Change your username I'm still waiting for mine to be quoted.

MrsHathaway · 29/11/2016 20:51

It's easy to get round screen grab blocks, alas. And journalists can be members too.

The Other Place doesn't get lifted, as far as I'm aware. Whether that's professional courtesy bloody unlikely or good management is another question. But The Other Place doesn't appear in Active or on Google, so it's far harder work for a journo and less clickbaity.
