After his remarks relating to the football abuse in saying that they are 'not real men' who are coming forward because they should have dealt with it when they were bigger and stronger - IMO Bristow is a total and utter idiot
who should be banned from 'playing' darts (note I do not say 'competing' by
his federation.

YANBU Angry

This is one of the reasons why male sexual abuse is under-reported. Fear of being accused of 'gay' or 'not a real man' or questions about 'why didn't you just punch him/fight him off'.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/11/2016 17:44

Yanbu

Stupid stupid man.

Redrocketship · 29/11/2016 17:47

He is vile. Been around him a few times and he is a complete lech.

What he said was disgusting and I'm glad he is being held to account.

Ofalltheginjoints · 29/11/2016 17:48

Absolutely disgusting, victim blaming at its finest.

Thankfully Sky have sacked him and Newcastle United have told him that he is no longer welcome at an event he was supposed to be a part of (especially given they are one of the clubs involved).

It's disgusting that people actually think that, the men involved should be applauded for coming forward not mocked Angry

CremeBrulee · 29/11/2016 17:51

YANBU his comments are utterly shocking and potentially extremely damaging to victims of abuse.

I hope he is made an example of.Angry

BartholinsSister · 29/11/2016 17:52

A career in politics beckons, surely.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 29/11/2016 17:54

I did a search on here to see if there was a thread yet- and saw there was one from about six years ago where he said women should stay at home.

He is an arse, now predictably there are people saying 'free speech innit' as if someone put a gun to his head and made him publish his foul views. I'm glad sky sports have dumped him - that's Free speech too innit.

glitterazi · 29/11/2016 17:59

Ugh! What a disgusting, vile thing to say. Angry

YANBU, he's a first class idiot and I'm glad sky sacked him. Vile human being.

I've seen a few comments on social media about how everyone's entitled to an opinion. Yes that may be so, but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences for having such horrid opinions. He brought this all on himself.

DiegeticMuch · 29/11/2016 21:44

He's grim and anachronistic, but it's been nice to see that fortunately, the majority disagrees with him. And well done Brian Moore!

Why do we persist in assuming 'sportsmen' have any other talents other than their 'sport'.

No reason to assume they have any other abilities - and this one proves the case.

Mcchickenbb41 · 29/11/2016 22:25

Yep I did a long slow clap for Eric bristow. What a complete dick. Awful thing to say. What on earth was he thinking

ohfourfoxache · 29/11/2016 23:35

Nasty, nasty bastard Angry

GiddyOnZackHunt · 29/11/2016 23:44

Yes Dixie it's the old arguments of defending someone's right to say something whilst disagreeing with what they say and letting bigots condemn themselves.
If everyone has to toe the line you can't spot the nasty ones.

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 30/11/2016 07:41

He's on good morning Britain defending his comments Angry

RoseDog · 30/11/2016 07:47

I think he should have crawled under a rock, he's not helping himself on GMB Angry

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 30/11/2016 07:51

He soon changed it around to saying that he aimed to help kids being abused now to come forward.

He's a liar and a coward. I'm more angry having watched that.

Chippednailvarnishing · 30/11/2016 07:54

Can't say I'm surprised, he can now crawl off into the sunset.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 30/11/2016 11:00

Exactly this. If you hold these opinions and choose to share them publicly, then surely you must expect some kind of reaction/judgment? That is how free speech works - rights & responsibilities etc.
