AIBU to think there isn't any foundation out there for me?

I'm frustrated.com

I have problem skin to say the least...

1. Prone to acne breakouts
2. Extremely sensitive, can't tolerate perfumed products
3. Dehydrated.
4. Oily t zone and flaky dry everywhere else
5. Vitiligo- so I have pigmentation patches

So my skin is everything - dry, dehydrated, oily, sensitive and acne prone.

I think I'll finally found the right balance with skin care products. I steer clear of stripping ingridients and I keep it Fragrance free and simple.

But makeup does my head in.

There isn't a foundation out there that I am happy with and I've tried them all.

1. Clinique- love the products, but I'm olive toned and yet fair: they don't have my colour. In anything
2. MAC- strangely, I can use most of their foundations without a reaction but they're far too heavy and not ideal for the dry parts of my skin.
3. Bobbi brown- too scared to try! Love their concealer and corrector but Everything else smells so strongly of lavender oil and I'm scared that'll break me out
4. Double wear- hated it
5. Lancôme- meh. Not the right colours and they made my face itch (likely because they aren't fragrance free)
6. Nars: sheer glow is good. Didn't break me out, didn't cling to dry patches and lasted well. BUT I get this strange itchy sensation all day while wearing it!!!!

What should I do.

I NEED some makeup on, but I can't find anything that works

Can anyone suggest products that worked for them?

I do t know if it fits every criteria listed but its worth a wee google.

I swear by no7 instant radiance - I've tried many others and always go back.

I have dry skin with an oily t zone and it suits me fine. Plus they have decent colours for people with pink skin tones.

It's so hopeless...

Anyone tried the Bobbi brown foundation stick? I've heard it's degrade free and suitable for all skin types.

Does it cause spots though?

DragonMama- my skin tone is more olive/yellow, but I'll still give no: 7 a go! I read it's hypoallergenic, maybe it will work for me

MAC have one foundation that's a gel and very light. Comes in a tube and you use very little. Alternatively, I've found using their studio fix compact foundation is great, especially if you get the spray fix and prime thingy, which sets it nicely. Again, it's light but buildable, with good coverage for me over my thread veins on my cheeks.

Maybe just needs a bit more experimenting?

Pinkie- they have a tube and a stick foundation as well. I've tried both

I have similar skin. The only thing I have found is Lily Lolo mineral makeup. I use the green colour correcting powder to cover up my redness and then either medium concealer or foundation depending on the level of cover I want. You can order sample size pots of the foundation to see whah colour suits you. This guide was helpful

I swear by Estée Lauder Doublewear, it's amazing but I don't think it meets all of your criteria.

I did not know that.... I've never seen the stick.... Interesting...

Grumpy- is it the studio sculpt? I've been thinking about that! I tried a sample once, it wasn't bad at all

Does it last well through the day? I find that MAC products can get cakey and patchy as the day goes by

You need to see a dermatologist to sort your problem skin, then start worrying about foundation.

Another vote for No.7 op! I love the perfectly matte one (I think it's called) and I'm also acne prone. Have you looked at Charlotte Tilbury? I've heard amazing things about her foundation but it's a bit on the pricey side

I have acne and I use kroylan camoflauge make up and L'Oréal perfect match Or whatever it's called but I still look like a flakey weird person to be honest

Featherbag- it didn't cause any reaction to be fair! But I just felt so uncomfortable with it on! It's very heavy and feels like something is sitting on my skin.

Do you use the normal foundation or the double wear light?

The problem with the no7 is its thick so if you have dry skin it just sticks in it

I have similar skin to you - I have started using bb/ cc creams that adapt to your skin tone.

My skin is the same as yours on every point, and I've had a really good luck with this. I use a primer and extra colour corrector under it, but it's working really well for me even when I don't. And it's not that expensive so if it doesn't work for you you haven't lost too much.

NHS wouldn't give me the time of day, but I recently got private insurance through my employer

I'm making use of it to see a dermatologist and I'm under treatment for both vitiligo and acne

Unfortunately, the treatment can take months and I still need some camouflage in the meantime

I don't find the no7 one I mentioned claggy at all. It's really light compared to others I've used, even in the No7 range.

BumDNC- they care about very little tbh, unless someone is dying.

I couldn't even get a referral for periods that landed me in the emergency room, or. Referral to an ENT specialist for SIXTEEN episodes of tonsillitis in 7 months

I have Melasma across my top lip which I've had since I had my third child. I tried everything and, like you, found nothing that worked. Until now!! I have just bought two Younique products. The foundation and concealer. I wash, then moisturise, then apply primer (this helps it to last!!) then the foundation (not a lot) then I dab on the concealer. It works and lasts for about 11 hours before my "tash" starts to show through! It has really got me down at times and so many people say "why don't you wax or get it threaded?" Errr because it's skin not hair! Grrrr. Anyway, I feel for you! Good luck!
