Another nail in their coffin for me, then. Angry

PickAChew · 28/11/2016 21:07

Cheeky feckers.

PerspicaciaTick · 28/11/2016 21:08

How can they do that?
Why would they want to do that?
How come they are such mahoosive arseholes about everything?

londonrach · 28/11/2016 21:09

From memory fair trade is not all in cracked up to be. Correct me if im wrong. Green and blacks is horrible chocolate anyway. Seriously miss the chocolate from the 1980s. Hotel chocolate is another chocolate that unedible (misses point of post). Bring back old terrys chocolate orqnge made in york and old cadburys!!!

WannaBe · 28/11/2016 21:13

Fair trade is not all it's cracked up to be anyway as the farmers who sign up to fair trade are forced to sign to them exclusively and are prevented from trading with anyone else iirc.

Agree that green and blacks is revolting anyway but the biggest travesty is that chocolate orange is smaller now.

londonrach · 28/11/2016 21:17

Wannabe..i know..in the olden days a chocolate orange would last a month...now i struggle to make it last a couple of hours. Alot smaller and not as tasty. Im willing to do more market research on this!

Thanks temporary Chocolate

Temporaryname137 · 28/11/2016 21:24

sorry, my iPad is being a dick.

I hate mondelez. closing factories and not paying tax and making the chocolate all waxy and not as nice and shrinking bars and not prices, fobbing us off with "improved mouth feel" bollocks... the original Cadbury family must be spinning in their graves.

I won't buy cadbury's now.

KenAdams · 28/11/2016 21:25

I've stopped buying chocolate from anywhere but a little independent shop in our town centre. All mass produced stuff tastes horrible now. If you're Leicester way you'll probably know it.

londonrach · 28/11/2016 21:25

Dam op i know what a chocolate orange!!

MipMipMip · 28/11/2016 21:41

Thanks for sharing this - Cadbury is now banned in this household. Which is agony for me!

ShelaghTurner · 28/11/2016 21:42

Shit. That's the nail in their coffin for me too. Can I still eat the cadburys that I already have in the house?

previously1474907171 · 28/11/2016 21:53

I won't buy Cadbury. Not only does it taste like crap, it is also harming the future. Just Google Palm Oil free

caroldecker · 28/11/2016 21:54

Quote from the BBC article below - the Fairtrade foundation approves as the in-house scheme is better than Fairtrade for the farmers.

As such, Mondelez wants to lead its own sustainability efforts - investing more in areas such as its supply chain, bonuses for farmers, training and climate change prevention.
The Fairtrade Foundation has welcomed the move, too, which it says will leave farmers in developing countries like Ghana at least as well off, if not better-off.
"The relationship is not ending, it's changing," says policy and public affairs director Barbara Crowther, pointing out that the Fairtrade Foundation will remain a partner to Cocoa for Life - independently assessing its progress and reporting its findings.

Twogoats · 28/11/2016 22:20

Hmmmmm... It sounds fishy.

It appears OP is dragging Cadbury's name through the mud despite them doing the right thing.
Not sure what OP's motivation is TBH.

butterfliesandzebras · 29/11/2016 03:14

Yeah, according to independent they are keeping the fair trade logo as they have an agreement with fair trade to give farmers a deal 'at least as good as' the fair trade one and are letting fair trade monitor them to ensure they do.

The OPs idea that they are somehow nefariously tricking customers by keeping a logo they are not entitled to is just not true.

MillionToOneChances · 29/11/2016 07:50

They're not giving it all to them as money, though - some is 'programme investments'. What does that mean? Is this better for the farmers or better for Mondalez? Do we now have to check the small print and news history of every 'fairtrade' manufacturer? I think it's a bloody cheek.
