Barely pregnant and lazy

I found out on Saturday evening I'm pregnant but only a few weeks. Suddenly the cramps I thought were period cramps make sense but I'm exhausted.

I've been shopping with a friend today and feel like I could go to bed now. Husband is wonderful and has sent me for a sit down and a cup of tea.

So aibu to basically make it to work and already arranged commitments but otherwise not do a lot. It's our first baby and no one in RL knows so I'm delighted but shattered.

Also please can you lot reassure me when I go to the GP they will be kind and not just pointing out I'm overweight(which I am well aware size14/16).

Thank you

I remember when I was pregnant with my first reading a book which gave a week by week breakdown of what was happening in your body and what you should be doing.

It was around week 8 or 9 that simply said, you are hungry, eat. You are tired, sleep. That was the whole chapter. Bone numbing exhaustion is perfectly normal at this stage. Congratulations

BoredOnMatLeave · 28/11/2016 20:38

I was exhausted the first 12 weeks... Went to bed at 7pm every night.

Don't worry about GP.. I never went to GP as you go straight to midwife in my area but they look my weight (my BMI is very high) they just said I needed to go for diabetes test at 28 weeks which I would have needed anyway as baby was measuring huge. No one ever mentioned my weight again.

WorraLiberty · 28/11/2016 20:43

Congratulations Thanks

Listen to your body and rest when you need to.

I can't advise about the weight but the Doctors/Midwives should be more concerned about your BMI than you clothes size - which seem to be different in most shops anyway.

Perfectly normal op and your weight sounds fine Flowers enjoy the quiet while you can. Grin

When I was around 6 weeks I went shopping : I had literally walked for ten minutes but was that knackered I just went and had a sit down and a drink! Too tired to walk. Then just went home Confused

toffeeboffin · 28/11/2016 20:57

Oh, by the way, I was a size ten and pretty fit. Makes no difference whatsoever.

UterusUterusGhali · 28/11/2016 21:02

Congratulations!!

When you have that lovely wee baby in your arms, you'll gaze upon its perfection and wonder how on earth you physically made a whole new human with a tiny working digestive tract, and perfect eyelashes.

THIS is how! With your body working overtime to create a full human. With a brain stem and eyeballs and tiny tiny fingernails.

You're not making a poo inside you. This is HARD WORK.

'Ave a biccie. Grin

Congratulations! All sounds very normal and healthy, it's really hard work making a person! I was superfit, slim as a pin, and was utterly zonked by pregnancy. Like, run over tired.

pointythings · 28/11/2016 21:36

First trimester exhaustion is absolutely a thing. I never managed to stay up beyond 7.30 pm with either pregnancy and getting through the working day was a major effort. Also DH had to do all the cooking because I was so sick. So what you are feeling is normal. Second trimester is much better, you really get your energy back.

downwardfacingdog · 28/11/2016 21:44

I was like this on my 4th pregnancy, couldn't wait for DH to get home around 6.30 so I could hand the DC over and sleep til morning. Was OK after the first few months though. Congrats!

Claireshh · 28/11/2016 21:49

You are building all the really important bits in the first 12 weeks. You will feel knackered. Just go with the flo. For me I felt a lot less tired in second trimester. Congratulations xxxxxx

Rainingchocolate · 28/11/2016 22:35

Honestly, nothing has ever compared to the bone aching tiredness in early pregnancy.

WiseOwlLady · 29/11/2016 08:46

Before I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I was so exhausted I fell asleep at work Blush

I've just discovered I'm pregnant and last night I went to bed at 8pm, I'm so tired! Glad it's not just me.

Wifflewaffles · 29/11/2016 09:29

I was exhausted and very sick during my pregnancies. I threw up so much that I ended up dehydrated in hospital. They had to get the anesthetist consultant to get a line in, as my veins had collapsed. I also developed obstetric cholestasis.

I work in a very male environment, and unfortunately they weren't very understanding. They'd say to me "You're pregnant, not ill!". I'm both, so fuck off! "When my wife was pregnant, she carried on working in a kitchen, lifting huge heavy pots around, right up to the due date." Well, good for her!

I always felt jealous of the pregnant people who just breeze through it, carrying on as normal and glowing. I couldn't go through it again, because my body obviously isn't cut out for it, and it wouldn't be fair on my family.

But, my advice would definitely be to listen to your body, and rest if you need to. Growing a baby takes a lot of energy. And congratulations! Flowers

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 29/11/2016 09:42

Wiffle that's terrible, I'm Angry on your behalf.

IrregularCommentary · 29/11/2016 09:46

First clue I had that I was pregnant was going to bed at 8pm because I was absolutely exhausted put of nowhere and kept falling asleep on the sofa. Got my BFP 4 days later.

First trimester is knackering. Don't worry too much about weight either. I was a size 14 with bmi of 30 at my booking in appointment. Didn't make any difference to the pregnancy. I now have an 11 week old dd and am back in pre maternity jeans.

Am also probably more tired than I was in the 1st trimester! Grin
