AIBU to ask about anti hunt charities?

I would like to make a donation to an anti hunting/bloodsports charity, but the only dilemma I have is that I dont really advocate for Sabbing hunts, as I feel the potential for any sabotage causing harm to the dogs and horses (other animals involved) etc is equally alarming from an animal welfare stand point.

Does anyone know of or recommend a charity that both lobby and put pressure on or expose hunting practices without being at the extreme end of activism?

This is not designed to be a contentious post, but I would be very appreciative if anyone could point me in the right direction please Smile
Sorry in advance, as AIBU may not be the ideal place for this post but not really sure where else to put it!

I have to say that lazy contempt goes both ways, I have never in my life seen any supporter of hunting listen to the opinion of someone against it. Never.

The usual abuse is 'thug', 'townie' etc.

I contacted the Chief Constable about this, this is a conflict of interest. This hunt is notorious for its wildlife crime, they have been getting away with it for years.

Thanks all and Doughnuts, you have raised some very interesting points and made some helpful suggestions. Whilst I dont support dangerous actions by 'some' extreme sabs (not the way of all sabs according to PP) . I do still feel very strongly that these horrific hunting practices must stop, in fact in the last 24 hours I have been doing more and more investigating. Pheasant hunting season has me totally on edge too at the moment.

Why in the almighty fuck, would anyone enjoy terrorising defenceless animals? Perhaps if the tables were turned and it was all about dog hunting using cage reared puppies who are then realeased into the wild to be shot at, those who defend these barbaric 'sports' may feel differently.

I've never hunted or followed a hunt but I was raised in a country environment and the lazy contempt that the anti hunt lobby has for people they can't even be bothered to listen to properly never ceases to surprise me.

Hunting foxes with hounds is an illegal activity. The reason that anti hunt charities still exist is because the law is frequently broken 'accidentally'. Why are we supposed to listen to people who indulge in criminal activity? Are we supposed to give people who involve themselves in dog fighting a sympathetic hearing too?

Wookiecookies · 28/11/2016 10:27

I am so confused about the contradictions with fox hunting, I keep hearing its illegal yet seeing different.

Ok, those who hunt with dogs but proclaim foxes are not harmed because they are released or the dogs called off etc. why dont the dogs wear muzzles? Not that I agree with chasing a wild animal across the countryside regardless, but surely if the dogs were muzzled you could in all good conscience claim that you do as much as possible to prevent the fox being torn apart by the pack?

I just dont buy the quick death crap or the idea that the hunt has no intention of killing a fox/foxes.

I come from a horsing background, but hated hunting and never took part or celebrated those that did. It appalled me, even as a child.

I live in the countryside and there is a hunt nearby who often go past my house. They chase foxes though obviously wouldn't admit it! I used to monitor hunts (follow them around to gather evidence) for the league against cruel sports. They are still going.
