AIBU to think the nursery shouldn't let my daughter get so messy!

Picked up DD from nursery she is 17 months they had changed her clothes as she had got messy which is quite regularly and I don't normally mind. I got home and have seen the state of her cardigan covered in pen marks! I don't know if it will all come out in the wash.

Shouldn't they provide some sort of overalls for painting and drawing and what were they doing while she was drawing all over herself?
Should I email the nursery or just accept she is going to ruin all her clothes that she wears to nursery!?

They should have aprons, but I equally wouldn't be sending her in anything that you care about getting ruined. I see it was cheap but it's also quite delicate.

That's ridiculous, she's too young to be left to her own devices with pens. When I looked after children that age we would use chalk or crayons for drawing.

DS seemed to either remove aprons or manage to get paint under them somehow. He managed to colour in his hands one day. A bath reduced the colour but didn't entirely remove it (we weren't going to scrub his hands with Vanish!)

Fortunately when a little friend drew on his face, it was easily washed off Grin

My DD always comes home like that. It does get a bit annoying. I don't send her in in good clothes but she's very petite and getting clothes to fit is very difficult. Then everything is destroyed very quickly, and she's getting through 1/2 changes a day as well. It's too much to expect a 2 year old to need 15 outfits for 5 days in nursery, and as we don't have a decent tumble dryer I really struggle to get everything washed and dry while working full time.

My dd has come home like this too and even had paint in her hair once which wouldn't come out for a few days! I was once told by a tattooist that a blob of washing up liquid is great for getting ink out of things, so now I do that, put it in the wash and hope for the best

Mine keeps coming out of nursery either soaking wet ( water play) or covered in mud, and wet...outdoor role play....drives me mad...
