Friend and boyfriend problems

Skimpyfd · 23/11/2016 21:41

My flatmate constantly talks about her problems with her boyfriend and over analyses the smallest things - it's getting exhausting! Either break up with him or don't! I'm always very sympathetic but it's getting too much! What do I do?! Every day, every conversation!!!

"mmm, i know" "yeah, that's not good" and others don't always do the trick, so what is the problem with the bf that she over thinks ? some women will put up with rubbish as they don't want to be alone,

pipsqueak25 · 23/11/2016 21:45

meant to ask how long has she been with him ?

Skimpyfd · 23/11/2016 21:49

2 months, they are long distance though. She always moans about him, comes into my room crying but then gets worked up about the smallest things! Argh!

Maybe not-so-subtly offer to watch 'He's just not that into you' with her?

Two months long distance and she's constantly whinging about their problems? Are this girl and her boyfriend 12 years old or something?

Skimpyfd · 24/11/2016 08:01
  1. It really is getting too much! I'm normally v understanding and tolerant but last night I snapped slightly - I'm finding it all pretty self-centred if I'm honest

She sounds boring.

BastardGoDarkly · 24/11/2016 08:50

Holy shit two months and she's crying and moaning every day? Say.... this is clearly making you miserable, why are you doing it?

Skimpyfd · 24/11/2016 08:52

Oh believe me Bastard I have - as have my other flatmates!!!!

He is one of the great loves of her life apparently - she isn't English so that's not as twatty as it sounds

Wedge your door shut.

HermioneJeanGranger · 24/11/2016 09:17

Noise-cancelling headphones?! That would drive me crazy.

JerryFerry · 24/11/2016 09:23

Sheesh I'm embarrassed for her, how absurd.
I can only suggest that you are blunt as in, "I can't deal with any more of your bf shit"
Hell, she doesn't care for your feelings so why in god's name should you care for hers?

CockacidalManiac · 24/11/2016 09:27

Fuck me, that would drive me mad.

pipsqueak25 · 24/11/2016 12:07

"sorry but your bitching to me isn't sorting things out and i really don't want to keep hearing about it, talk to him about it" that's the nice approach or the pip approach " i've been patient listening to you, i can't help you and you are now giving me the 'ump, go and haunt someone else !" Grin

I have no time whatsoever for these drama llamas. They enjoy the rollercoaster and the drama and repeating to you nourishes it.

Hard given she lives with you but you could try saying "bad time can't talk now" a few times. Or be more blunt and say "this doesn't sound a healthy relationship for you and I don't want to enable it further". Hard I know with a crying girl walking into your room.
