I'm on maternity leave... Not a whole lot to do. I think it would be fun.

An agency has accepted her. There's no cost...

She's very cute Grin

Go for it. Nothing to lose.

My DD did it when she was younger. She did benettons christmas 2004 adverts and she was also on the cover of quite a lot of kids magazines. Angelina ballerina mag used her a lot back then. Then she decided she hated it so she just stopped. I remember she bought herself a baby anabelle with her first cheque. She has quite a bit put away for when she turns 18 (next year)

We were offered alot of times with our DD, we were even stopped in a mall in Florida once. She has always stuck out, if you saw Thylane Blondeau you would know, it is uncanny and that is how I found out who she was - everyone sent emails and pictures asking if we had seen this kid who looked like our daughter

Now my DD is a massive show off and has always been like "please mum" whenever we were approached but I always said no. I think it is a personal thing but with me, well I don't keep too great and where we love it just would not have been feasible. Also her dad was like no way, he did not want her focusing on worrying about weight etc before she was too young. I did let a friend who started their own photography business use her as a model when they asked a few years back as we got the photos and it was a local spot of our choosing and we knew them, they knew her.

If it's something your daughter can't stop going on about, you have the time and energy and trust the company then it is compketely up to you.

No. too weird.

WellErrr · 23/11/2016 16:51

I wouldn't.

My dad had his own photography studio and used my brother and I on his advertisement card. I was also in a test advert photo I think for a private hospital with my mum... Good looking man who certainly wasn't my dad was in the photos with me.

I had blonde curly hair up until 3 and my brother was Aryan blond/Scandinavian blond and very cute and my dad suggested we model maybe but then parents divorced and mum wanted nothing to do with it. Also by that time I'd developed a squint and had to wear glasses so it was out for me and my brother was severely asthmatic so out for him too as he was in and out of hospital.

I do know kids who've done the acting/models stuff and it can really suit them if they have the right character. Strangely enough my DBs goddaughter from when she was young she was stunning, unusual (dad is half Burmese) and I said to her dad she should do modelling and he just said no she's not got the right temperament!

My DD did it throughout primary school and did very well out of it. She had the right personality, really enjoyed. A small number of children get the majority of the work.
My DS did it as a baby but we gave up before he started school, he was too active!
It is generally boring but you do meet some lovely parents and the odd pushy one. Also lovely to have some beautiful pictures to look back on.

CozumelFox · 23/11/2016 16:56

They let you use your own pictures? Doesn't sound like a legit agency, frankly. Agencies want clear headshots, not some wonky phone pic of a kid in a dark living room.

Anyway, why ask? Do it, don't do it... Mumsnet isn't here to decide.

Just don't be the fool who pays £700 because you're told the kid's a special snowflake, and don't become a pageant mom.

Corialanusburt · 23/11/2016 17:12

Actually the best agencies are happy for you to use your own as long as you have a couple of clear useful pics.

orangepudding · 23/11/2016 19:02

A reputable agency will be very happy for a baby to use own photos, they need to be updated on a regular basis.

coralpig · 23/11/2016 19:54

YANBU as its Bonnie and Betty- excellent agency run by lovely people and extremely professional

Oliversmumsarmy · 23/11/2016 20:23

DD and ds both did it and loved it. Both have earned enough for a deposit on a small London flat. DD loved doing it so much she has decided to do it as a living.
Your child doesn't need to be blond and blue eyed pretty thing. An agency likes different looks

I think they don't bother with professional shots at the start as babies change so much.

Definitely think living in London is a plus point

chickenwing · 14/07/2017 08:07

I've opened an old thread here but I'm looking for a reputable agency in Scotland if there is any? When I google it seems to bring up loads "claiming" to be here but when looking further they are in England! My son is 2, coming up on 3
