To tell collegue to STFU about me having a pod coffee / tea machine at work

She always makes some snide remark about me "littering the planet" when I just want a drink from my own machine, that I paid for and got permission and PAT tested to have it in work, when on my break. Is it too much to ask her to just shut up?

Your post has led me to google for mini pod coffee makers. :o

CouldIHaveIt · 22/11/2016 22:22

It doesn't matter whether she is 'right' or not. She's had her say, now she just needs to STFU. It's incredibly rude of her to go on & on about it.

Next time, tell her you have 'heard' her opinion. You'll assume it hasn't changed so there's no need to repeat it. . Tell her she's welcome to recycle the pods if she wants to.

Switch to cofico they do biodegradable pods nespresso compatible. Then you really can tell her to sod off

PopGoesTheWeaz · 22/11/2016 22:27

hasn't nespresso pretty much admitted that they collect pods but don't actually recycle them?

Amalfimamma · 22/11/2016 22:31

Allude to the fact that she is part of the category which pollutes more than cars.

cow

KERALA1 · 22/11/2016 22:32

Yes - coated with stuff that makes them hard to recycle. The man who invented nespresso machines is horrified at the environmental damage unleashed. He has invented entirely biodegradable pods. There was a court case where nespresso tried to ban him but he just won. You can order his biodegradable pods from cofico - they are just as good and work really well. Salves my conscience anyway.

DeadGood · 22/11/2016 22:35

"We have a nespresso machine, and the company take away old pods when they deliver new ones."

And then what happens?

I know this sounds harsh, but it's a bit naive to assume that because they disappear from your view, that they are being carefully and conscientiously turned into compost or something.

HateMrTumble · 22/11/2016 22:43

Save all coffee pods in a box, then when it's full, stick it on her desk so she can take them for recycling Grin

DamePlata · 22/11/2016 22:45

Does she eat meat?

I use the rombout one cup filters and I know they are more plastic that the earth doesn't need but if a meat eater reprimanded me for using them I'd tell them to watch cowspiracy and then see how they felt about nagging me.

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 22/11/2016 22:45

Does she have a pet? That got a terrible eco footprint. Or some other bad habit you can use to point out her hypocrisy.

Antihop · 22/11/2016 22:51

Actually I agree with her. I love a proper cup of coffee and I drink several a day. At work I use one of these coffee nets, which is much less washing up than a cafetiere. www.chatsford.com/mug_infuser.htm

Recycling is great but reducing consumption is even better for the planet.

Antihop · 22/11/2016 22:53

I should add that the coffee net I use can be used countless times and does not need any filter paper or any extra bits. Economically as well as eco friendly!

Economically as well as eco friendly

But the coffee has to get here so there's the effect of the sea transport. Ships aren't known for being good for the environment.

The coffee has to be grown and picked - who knows what issues that causes locally.

Everything we do has some cost to it. But OTOH, I do like coffee.

Shut up you insufferable bore should do the trick.

crazywriter · 23/11/2016 04:11

YWNBU.

One mention would all she'd need to make about it. There's no need for people to bang on about things.

I miss my pod machine. I only used it once a week for hot chocolate but I can't find a hot chocolate as good as the Cadbury one.
