I would love to wear a short dress for a party but not blessed with the best legs - looking for a fab pair of opaque tights that flatter the whole leg and give confidence. Please help!

Urgh, forgot to add, the point of asking if you live near anywhere that sells them is that they have a sample out on display that you could stretch around to see the colour before ebaying!

PandoraHadABox · 23/11/2016 15:35

Thanks, Temp I will give them a try. Do you think matte or sheen ones would be more leg-slimming?

Can anyone recommend some for the cuddlier people (size 22)?

PandoraHadABox · 23/11/2016 17:13

Found a bargain in J Lewis as they are having a 20% off sale - tempted to buy two pairs in matte....Grin

M&S autograph shaping opaques. Pretty good and quite hard-wearing.

ForFiveMinutes · 23/11/2016 18:26

Agree Primark, last for ages, keep there shape and don't fall down. And thy are cheap!

5OBalesofHay · 23/11/2016 18:28

Wolford without question. They are fantastic and last well. You do gulp a bit at the price but they are worth it

PandoraHadABox · 23/11/2016 19:49

50 bales - they are expensive, but cheap ones cost around £5 each and often only good for 1 or 2 wears. J Lewis selling for £24 and can be ordered online. When I am near a Primark store I will definitely get some. Have ordered one pair of the Wolfords to see if I fall in love with them x

Primark 80 denier or autograph 80 denier (if I can get them cheap off the local market! )

Temporaryname137 · 23/11/2016 20:13

sorry meant to say I think both nice! well done, hope you love them.

m&s autograph definitely go up to size 22, you might also get in a large wolford; depends where the weight is carried. I have skinny legs and bum but a horrible round Apple gut and I managed when I was a 22 :)

RockyBird · 23/11/2016 20:19

I don't wear tights normally but bought my DD 300 denier fleece lined ones from Primark yesterday to try.

They got the thumbs up, looked good and were £3.50.

The M&S ones I bought her last week (spent fecking £38 on 8 pairs of tights for 2 DDs) definitely aren't as good.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/11/2016 20:21

I love M&S Autograph tights, but even more than those, adore the M&S velvet opaque hold-ups. I swear, I could do star-jumps in them and they wouldn't fall down... although my bra wouldn't be up to the challenge, that's for sure.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 23/11/2016 20:22

M&S all the way - get the best you can - Walford's are a bit overrated

paxillin · 23/11/2016 20:26

M&S. I buy 5 pairs every few years and wear them all winter. Buy a size bigger than the tables say, this way they will last years.

Polarbearflavour · 23/11/2016 20:40

Superdrug - 60 den

Sonders · 23/11/2016 21:57

I also have a tights question (sorry to hijack), I'm 5'9" and a size 14, which makes me an XL in most store-brand tights.

However, they always bunch way too much around the ankles and if they're a lower denier, I end up with a really obvious and unwanted ombre. Does anyone have any advice?

I've never really experimented on tights, I think mine all come from Boots/Sainsbury's/M&S but would love suggestions!

Also, the Sainsbury's 100 denier are great for opaqueness 😉

Temporaryname137 · 23/11/2016 21:59

Sonders - sounds like you're buying too big for your shape to get the length. Have you tried "long tall Sally" for taller girls? They have tights with longer legs that will prob fit you better :)

Katinkka · 23/11/2016 21:59

I'm wearing a lot of Next ones at the moment and love them.

Temporaryname137 · 23/11/2016 22:00

Here you go! For 5'8" and above, so I think this will help:

CaraAspen · 23/11/2016 22:01

M&S black opaque. 40 denier

Sonders · 23/11/2016 22:50

Thanks Temp - I hadn't even thought about Long Tall Sally but seems obvious now, and they're not too pricy either.

I know I'm buying the wrong fit, I am going to buy some of these in bulk :)

Scholes34 · 23/11/2016 23:00

Wolford are fab. I've a black pair I've had for twenty years and they're still going strong and feel great (not that I wear them very often, but still . . . 20 years!)
