To wonder when Mumsnet stopped being a place for mums?

I used to frequent the site years ago and have come back recently because I became a mum again! However, whilst I am all for equality, the site seems to be full of people who aren't mums or aren't even parents! (and a good few who are journalists hunting for stories!).

I would never suggest anyone be excluded from the warmth, breadth of knowledge or bat shit crazy hysteria that the site offers, I was just wondering when it stopped being a place mainly for mums?

(I am not suggesting dads or non parents aren't welcome, just curious as to when the shift happened?).

Yup - so many offensive views, she has to start several threads

Flowers for you mitchy Sad

nuttyknitter · 19/11/2016 07:31

Just seen you on the rape thread OP. You do like to stir things up.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 07:33

And funny that OP hasn't been back since people have started to pull her on her rape comments

VintagePerfumista · 19/11/2016 07:39

I'm getting ever so confused.

I notice lots of goady fuckers always preface their goadyfuckery with "I was here years ago" though.

Like it legitimises twattery.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 07:41

And it's the patronising 'of course we are all equal' type comments which show the OP to be a twat.

I may not have children but I'm neither a goady fucker nor a rape apologist so I'm fine with thaf

PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2016 07:44

If MNHQ had a problem with non-mums here they'd ask us to go. Non of us have hidden the fact we don't have children and we're not exactly here pushing some sort of anti children agenda on the quiet.

What do you propose to do with the infertility section?

Manumission · 19/11/2016 07:50

I just don't get why you would notice

Oh come on livia, people notice things If they're mentioned. Noticing what people say about themselves (i.e. listening ) is hardly a crime.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 07:51

I said notice or care...

As in, if you noticed, why would you give it a second thought

Manumission · 19/11/2016 07:55

You can't make noticing or menrioning the membership diversity some kind of crime, though.

People will get it in the neck soon enough if they step over the line into criticising.

There's absolutely fuck-all wrong with noticing that there are more non-parents than previously. Or saying so.

SoupDragon · 19/11/2016 07:57

Personally, I'd like to know how the hell the OP could ever have known that the posters were mothers.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 07:57

Using phrases like 'I'm all for equality but' kind of shows you to be a GF tho

Manumission · 19/11/2016 08:02

Oh yes, god knows what OP's up to.'

I'm just so terminally observant and curious, and panicking at the idea of 'noticing' things or thinking about them being considered suss Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 08:09

But most of the people on here don't mention if they are child free and only tend to mention the children if they are relevant... same with the sex of the posters. So how would you know the situation of the majority of posters?

Manumission · 19/11/2016 08:15

I dare say nobody's actually counting.

It's normally conversations like this where people declare child-free status en masse.

DollopofTrollop · 19/11/2016 08:27

Oh ... It's Fenced

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/11/2016 08:31

Yup... Unfortunately it is
