To think this is a ludicrous amount of salt for a child's meal

A friend told me Wetherspoons children's meal of sausage, beans and mash contains 13.4g of salt. That's over double an adult daily recommended intake. I checked it out on their website and it's correct. Aibu to think this is awful, surely there is a lower salt alternative for a children's menu?!

Yes. But it's not everyday I hsve a soft spot for my local Weathersoons as when the dds where little and I was a lone parent I could take them out have 3 meals A glass of wine out very cheaply. So yes it's not healthy but 90% of the time dds eat healthy So it was balanced out.

Both dds now work at Weathetspoons while at Uni. And the tales from the kithen.and the good

Food

Hmm. As a one off pub meal, I wouldn't worry too much. If it was a frequent thing, yes. Then I would.
It also depends on how old your child is. A full child's meal of sausages, beans and mash as a toddler in any establishment as a baby or toddler/preschooler would be too much salt.
This is why I preferred to order off the adult menu when dining out at places when mine were that age - they got a share of whatever we were having.
As you could see that the adult's food was "proper" food and not just junk.
Never ceases to amaze me how many places think kids just want chips/nuggets/pizza and flat out refuse to let you order a mini version of "adult" dish menus.

I agree with pickachew, that can't be right. I'm guessing the portion size will be 2 or 3 small sausages, quarter tin of beans and small portion of mash. It just can't be right. I would expect maybe 3 to 5 g which is still very high, but 13 g is probably wrong. It would taste extremely salty.

As a once in a while thing I don't see much harm (assuming no other existing health conditions), but not day to day!

Kids menu

That WAS the kid's menu. :O

but 13 g is probably wrong. It would taste extremely salty.

Maybe it's 130 mg? Which would be 1.3 g. (Why can't we just stick to one way of measuring these things!)
