I was served by a really friendly assistant in a large store and at the end I was handed a feedback form on the service. She was lovely except for her awful BO that made me want to flee the store asap, it was extremely bad. Would you have mentioned it on the feedback form? It went into an anonymous box.

Gum disease can cause horrendous pooey breath I had it when I was pregnant - I was so self conscious! I even stopped smiling at people and I stopped kissing DP!

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 14/11/2016 12:46

Oh, I hate flossing.....Does that have I have poo breath? Even if I use mouthwash/Zoflora? I'm going to start breathing heavily on people and seeing if they recoil in horror.

tiej · 14/11/2016 12:53

Jingle, I wouldn't do that, they might recoil anyway in terror.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 14/11/2016 12:53

JingleJess floss and then smell the gunk on the floss.

That is your breath.

whiteonesugar · 14/11/2016 12:56

Wasn't primark was it? I had the same yesterday!

spiderlight · 14/11/2016 12:59

Boggling at the combination of mouthwash and Zoflora - you're not serious are you??

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 14/11/2016 13:00

If my mouth smells of poo, I'd gargle bleach..... No, I'm not being serious Grin

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 14/11/2016 13:04

I had very smelly breath due to oral thrush when I was on a high dose of steroids.

I have very little sense of smell due to my illness but I could taste it, and brushed my teeth and used mouthwash every hour or so. If I was out and couldn't brush I would chew gum.

But the smell seemed to issue from my throat and if I didn't obsessively clean I would nearly be sick from the taste, so I can't understand how all these people with a functioning sense of smell can have poo breath and not notice!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 14/11/2016 13:04

In medieval times they flossed with vines. Apparently the peeps who lived near a supply of vines had far far better teeth than the ones who didn't live near vines.

We could put our wellies on and go for a MN Woodland Walk to pick some.

BoopTheSnoot · 14/11/2016 13:04

I work in retail (currently on mat leave). If I smelled, I would want someone to tell me. Yes it would be embarrassing, but I'd rather that than people screwing their noses up behind my back!
At our place of work, we keep a couple of cans of deodorant in the staff loo for freshening up mid-shift if needed. Everyone sweats after all, it's just a case of taking responsibility for yourself and managing it.
I would definitely mention it in the feedback form.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 14/11/2016 13:05

Ooo, and green tea is supposed to clear your mouth of bacteria.

Radiatorvalves · 14/11/2016 13:20

I had a male AP who had a serious BO problem. I had to tell him - he was living in my house and it was revolting. the smell improved a bit, but he was so useless that he only lasted a couple of months. He used to come down to the kitchen in the morning (when he was supposed to be working) in PJs that had been slept in for weeks (did not smell very fresh). Odd boy.

I would have said something on the feedback form.

QuimReaper · 14/11/2016 13:25

I never get how people can just not realise they smell.

My DH has to be reminded to brush his teeth. Quite often we've left the house and he hasn't washed his teeth and has just eaten a BabyBel, and the combination is gag-inducing - I always stop off and buy a tube of Polo mints and give him one, and he gets all wounded and offended like my objecting to his breath is somehow a personal slight Confused I guess I'm supposed to just put up with it, or love every single thing about him right down to his unclean mouth? It's so weird.

The builders locked our toothbrushes in the bathroom last weekend; I had accidentally gone to stay with my mum and left mine behind, so just used hers with a new head. DH just didn't brush his teeth for three days until he finally got round to going and asking the builders to please release it. How can he stand to have unbrushed teeth for so long?!

CheckpointCharlie2 · 14/11/2016 13:34

I am defo in for the MN Woodland Walk. I use those little baby pipe cleaners to clear out the grim smelling stuff from between the back teeth, gross.
There is a lady at my work who has the breath of Satan, really hideous but she would be so offended if anyone said anything.

QueenArseClangers · 14/11/2016 13:44

"When I was about six I went to a Teddy Bear's Picnic at a National Trust site and Joanna was there in a lovely floral dress and hat."

No turd dangling between her pearlies?Grin

Zoflorabore · 14/11/2016 13:47

I have a lovely friend ( male ) who stinks so bad. It has reduced people to opening windows when he's in the room and refusing lifts in the car with him for example.

I have such a strong sense of smell and it was making me feel ill, was almost like smelling weed Hmm but he doesn't smoke it.

Anyways I plucked up the courage and told him, he said he's suffered his whole life and no matter what he does he absolutely stinks, 2 baths a day, anti p, aftershave etc doesn't matter he still smells.
His partner has never seemed bothered but she smells too but more in a " haven't had a bath for 2 weeks " way which she once told me, I was horrified.
If it was me I would want to be told but some people actually don't care and aren't likely to change their lack of hygiene habits. I would like to think they would but have come across some people in life who simply have no idea of what normal washing habits are. Tough one op.

SapphireStrange · 14/11/2016 14:15

tiej, it's true. It was on Popbitch. Grin

I'm sure I read recently that the British Dental Association or similar august body decided that flossing doesn't make any difference. Although maybe they meant to general tooth health rather than to poo breath.

BusterGonad · 14/11/2016 14:17

I wonder if any of these people have Trimethylaminuria, aka fish odour syndrome!!! My son ate some of his own poo once, that really was poo breath! Ugh.....I couldn't decide wether to brush his teeth or not!

QuimReaper · 14/11/2016 14:18

Zoflora that's so weird, what makes him smell then? Is he an excessive sweater? I'd have been banging down the doors of the NHS if I had suffered for my entire life with smelling bad!

I did have a friend when I was younger who seemed to have weird hygiene issues that didn't appear to be related to not washing. She had sticky, clumpy hair and sweated like crazy and often smelt a bit. The hair was the worst bit, I think it must have been hormonal because I've seen her a couple of times more recently and it looks perfectly normal now.

I had a similar experience a fortnight ago, also at the same store mentioned, but hopefully a different branch ( in a small town about 1.5 hours outside central Londonn) . The store was almost empty and as I approached the changing rooms towards the rear of the store, I was confronted by an overwhelming body odour. There was only a petite , well dressed, attractive female assistant manning the changing rooms and as I approached her it became apparent that she had a severe B.O problem. The stench was so overpowering that I went into the changing room the furtherest away from the entry, but I could still smell her. She was very kind to help me choose out of 2 preferred outfits, and had also greeted me warmly. Whilst paying for my outfit I asked to speak to the manager, discreetly. I did so and complimented her assistant's friendly manner but mentioned the overwhelming B.O, which had surprised me, but had made me want to leave as soon as possible. The female manager immediately told me that she was aware of the problem and had, in fact been discussing it with management that day. I repeated that the customer service was excellent but was affected by the odour. She thanked me and assured me they would be dealing with it sympathetically as she was a lovely member of staff otherwise, but I wasn't the first customs to report it.

Hibiscus8 · 14/11/2016 16:10

"..customer to report it"

peardropz · 14/11/2016 16:49

I think some people have bigger gaps between their teeth for food debris to collect and then go mouldy and make the poo smell.

Lovely.

mum2Bomg · 14/11/2016 16:50

Definitely comment. There may be an underlying issue that she is struggling with, health/personal circumstances which work
might be able to help her address. I used to manage all of the feedback for a massive restaurant chain in the UK and we always fed this back. It's part of your experience and it's important that she is aware.

thecatsarecrazy · 14/11/2016 21:04

Sometimes shop assistants only have 1 uniform even if they work full time. They may not have a dryer or afford to use one.
I stink when I'm on my period but I wash before and after work, change my tampons regularly but I have heavy periods. Nothing I can do

TheAntiBoop · 14/11/2016 21:20

give the feedback but make sure you use the shit sandwich technique
